Shenzhen News Network, August 15, 2024 (Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reporter Zou Yuan) In Dameisha Seaside Park in Yantian District, a "UFO" manned eVTOL with a disc-shaped shell slowly took off and flew steadily in the air; in Nanshan Science and Technology Park, hydrogen buses equipped with hydrogen fuel cell systems shuttled around the park, providing commuting services for employees of Huawei, Tencent and other companies; in the coastal areas of the Greater Bay Area, as a global unmanned ship explorer, the hydrogen-powered unmanned autonomous transport ship "Hu Ben No. 1" achieved a breakthrough in zero carbon emissions in the shipping industry...

These future vehicles that often appear in science fiction movies are gradually becoming a reality in Shenzhen. In the first half of this year, Shenzhen's new energy vehicle ownership reached 1.08 million, and the new car penetration rate in June reached 77.4%, a record high for a single month. As the green and low-carbon transportation pattern continues to expand, Shenzhen is accelerating the layout of new energy vehicles, cultivating and expanding the all-round "Electric Shenzhen" industrial cluster on land, sea and air.

Gathering marine advantages, electric ships "roam" the sea

Recently, the Nan'ao Office of Dapeng New District signed a contract with CATL Electric Ship Technology Co., Ltd., and will carry out strategic cooperation in the fields of ship electrification, ship battery replacement, new energy ship application research and development, and construction of a new energy electric ship comprehensive industrial park. With the electrification of coastal fishing boats and new energy sports and fishing tourism as the fulcrum, it will fully connect the advantages of all parties and leverage the development of "ocean + new energy + tourism" in Nan'ao.

As early as June last year, the Shenzhen Municipal Government signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. to focus on key areas such as new energy vehicle battery replacement, electric ships, new energy storage, green parks, financial services and trade, and to carry out all-round cooperation.

In the field of new energy ships, thanks to the complete electronic information industry chain, Shenzhen takes its advantageous marine electronic information industry as the entry point, actively explores new energy ships, empowers green shipping and green ports, and promotes the agglomeration and development of upstream and downstream supporting industries such as marine power batteries, motors, box power supplies, battery management systems, charging and swapping equipment, and integrated shore power and energy storage facilities.

Shenzhen Ruishen Technology Co., Ltd. is currently the world's largest battery system integrator for pure electric tourist passenger ships. It has delivered lithium battery systems for more than 500 new energy ships, accounting for more than 50% of the domestic market share of medium and large electric ship battery system integration. In May this year, its independently developed air-cooled lithium-ion battery energy storage system was officially certified by the Norwegian Classification Society DNV and is suitable for battery-powered or hybrid ships and offshore facilities.

In addition, Shenzhen is the first in China in the layout of shore power systems as a supporting facility for the development of electric ships. From January to July this year, the shore power of Yantian International Container Terminal received 626 ships, twice the same period last year and more than the whole of last year; it provided about 13.07 million kWh of electricity to ships berthed at the port, also twice the same period last year and more than the whole of last year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 10,117 tons, equivalent to planting 560,000 trees.

Build an industrial ecosystem and lead the low-altitude economy to fly high

In early March, the electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) "Shengshilong" took off from the Shenzhen Shekou Cruise Terminal in Guangdong Province, and landed at the Jiuzhou Port Terminal in Zhuhai after about 20 minutes of flight. This is the first public demonstration flight of the world's first cross-sea and cross-city electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft route, and it is also a historic moment for future transportation to become a reality. In June, a "UFO" flew over the Happy Harbor in Bao'an District. As the world's first eVTOL manned "flying saucer", it attracted many tourists to visit and "check in".

In recent years, Shenzhen has made every effort to promote the development of the low-altitude economic industry and has established a sound low-altitude policy system of "regulations + action plans + several measures + space guarantees + advanced infrastructure layout". In particular, in the construction of the industrial chain, the key supporting links are complete, and upstream, midstream and downstream enterprises cooperate closely, forming a joint force for the development of the low-altitude economy.

Shenzhen is now also a world-renowned "drone capital" and has initially formed a competitive advantage in the entire industry chain system in the field of low-altitude economy. As of June 2024, the city has built 249 low-altitude take-off and landing points, covering four major areas: passenger transportation, logistics transportation, community distribution and public governance services. Among them, 109 take-off and landing points have been built in the field of helicopter and eVTOL passenger transportation, 46 in the field of logistics transportation, and 74 in the field of community distribution.

At the recent conference on the high-quality development of the low-altitude economy, the Shenzhen Low-altitude Take-off and Landing Facilities High-Quality Construction Plan (2024-2025) was released again, which will build a hierarchical and rationally structured low-altitude take-off and landing service system to provide support for "heterogeneous, high-density, high-frequency, and high-complexity" low-altitude flight activities and the cultivation of "low-altitude +" emerging business formats. By the end of 2025, Shenzhen will have built more than 1,000 low-altitude take-off and landing points, and achieve internationally advanced low-altitude flight service guarantees.

Keep up with the "green" trend and take the lead in laying out new transportation tracks

In March last year, 304 BYD electric heavy-duty trucks were shipped to India. This was the first time that India purchased electric heavy-duty trucks on a large scale for port operations. In November of the same year, a 32-ton hook-arm hydrogen-powered domestic waste transfer vehicle equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system built by Shenzhen company Hydrogen Blue Era was delivered to the OCT Waste Transfer Station in Nanshan District.

In recent years, Shenzhen's green and low-carbon transportation pattern has continued to expand. By the end of 2023, Shenzhen's pure electric trucks will have reached 130,000 vehicles, including 126,000 pure electric logistics and distribution vehicles and 4,000 pure electric dump trucks, both of which rank first in the world.

Influenced by the low-carbon lifestyle and the general trend of electrification, electric-assisted bicycles have gradually become one of the fastest-growing categories in the world, and now have formed a market of over 100 billion US dollars. The reporter noticed that many leading companies in Shenzhen have quietly laid out this emerging track. In November last year, TENWAYS, an electric-assisted bicycle brand created by Shenzhen Shifang Sports, completed a round B financing of several hundred million yuan; at the end of last year, Shenzhen Xidesheng Bicycle Co., Ltd. teamed up with Huawei to launch the first Hongmeng Intelligent Electric-assisted Bicycle; at the EUROBIKE2024 European Bicycle Show in July this year, DJI released the electric-assisted bicycle system "DJI Avinox" and "Amflow PL" complete vehicles, officially entering the electric-assisted bicycle track.

Leading companies in the field of electric bicycles are rising rapidly, and upstream and downstream industrial chains are gathering. Guangming District has a good industrial foundation. In the fields of intelligent control and intelligent sensing, it has gathered high-quality companies such as Heertai, Amphenol, Noah Intelligent, and Newdirui Technology; in the field of new materials, it has gathered companies represented by Xinxing Light Alloy and Everbright Tongchuang, which are leading in the research and development and manufacturing of special light alloys and carbon fiber materials.

In the future, the focus will be on the deep integration of upstream raw materials and parts with new materials and intelligent sensors, the organic combination of midstream vehicle manufacturing with precision manufacturing and modern fashion, and the effective leveraging of the latest achievements in the fields of the Internet, artificial intelligence, etc. in the downstream to explore new business forms and models and build a highland for the city's independent intelligent manufacturing industry.
