Recently, NIO announced that its battery swap times officially exceeded 50 million times on August 5, 2024, and it only took 144 days from 40 million times to 50 million times.

NIO said that more and more users are choosing battery swapping as their preferred way of charging. Nearly 60% of the electricity supply obtained by NIO users comes from battery swapping services. Compared with public charging, battery swapping has saved users more than 2.85 billion minutes. Since August, the average daily battery swapping is about 79,000 times, and on average, a NIO car "starts out fully charged" from a battery swapping station every 1.1 seconds.

In terms of facility construction, as of August 6, NIO has deployed 2,465 battery swap stations, 3,930 charging stations, and 22,940 charging piles across the country, including 826 high-speed battery swap stations, and connected to more than 1,029,000 third-party charging piles.

According to the plan, NIO will add 1,000 new battery swap stations in the Chinese market this year, bringing the total number of stations built to over 3,310; and add 20,000 new charging piles, bringing the total number of stations built to over 41,000.

In addition, NIO stated that it will continue to make plans and work with seven strategic charging and battery swapping cooperation car companies including Changan Automobile, Geely Holding Group, Chery Automobile JAC Group, Lotus, GAC Group, and China FAW, as well as a number of energy and power cooperation companies such as State Grid, China Southern Power Grid Wanneng Group, and Zhongan Energy to accelerate the development of the battery swapping ecosystem.
