Recently, the signing ceremony of the commissioning agreement for the operation preparation period of the Taicang pilot section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway was held. The Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway starts from Changzhou in the west, runs through Wuxi and Suzhou, and ends in Shanghai in the east. It is an intercity railway serving the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area. Among them, the Taicang pilot section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway is 10.3 kilometers long, leading out from Taicang Station and connecting with the northern extension of the Jiamin Line of the Shanghai Urban Railway at the provincial boundary. There are three stations in Taicang, including Taicang Station, Baiyundu Road Station, and Shibagang Road Station, as well as a vehicle depot. The project is a landmark and demonstration project for the Shanghai-Suzhou co-city, and is also a global and traction project for Taicang.
In recent years, with the in-depth implementation of the national strategy of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, the construction of high-quality rail transit networks such as intercity transportation and metropolitan area transportation has been accelerated. Taicang has seized the development opportunities, insisted on transportation first, and made every effort to build a "5+1" rail transit network. After the opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Tongjiang Railway and the Shanghai-Nanjing Yangtze River High-speed Railway, the commuting time with Shanghai and Nanjing has been greatly shortened. Taicang has been fully integrated into the "Yangtze River Delta on Rails".

The Taicang pilot section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou intercity railway is connected with the northern extension of the Jiamin Line of the Shanghai Urban Rail Transit, which has attracted great attention from the people of both places. At the scene, Taicang Urban Rail Transit Development Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Urban Rail Transit Operation Co., Ltd. signed the "Suxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway Taicang Pilot Section Operation Preparation Period Entrustment Agreement". Based on the general principle of "integrated operation, integrated management, and integrated service", the two parties reached an agreement on the entrustment of the Taicang pilot section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway during the operation preparation period, marking a new stage of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two parties, which will promote the early start of construction of the Taicang pilot section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway project.
The Taicang pilot section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou intercity railway adopts the same technical standards as the Jiamin Line, with a maximum operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour, which is twice the operating speed of ordinary subways. As an important station of the Taicang pilot section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou intercity railway, the main project of Taicang Station began construction in 2021, and the main project was fully completed at the end of January this year. After the project is put into operation, it will further shorten the commuting time between Taicang and downtown Shanghai, and realize seamless transfers with Shanghai Metro Line 2, Line 9, Line 12, etc., further highlighting Taicang's city identity of "Shanghai next stop, next stop Shanghai".
