The international airworthiness certification of China's domestically produced large aircraft C919 seems to be getting closer and closer to reality. Hong Kong media South China Morning Post reported on the 9th, citing people familiar with the matter, that after an on-site inspection of the COMAC C919 in Shanghai last month, the delegation of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the EU's aviation safety agency, gave "positive feedback", and the possibility of the C919 being approved to operate in Europe is increasing.

"It now seems that the prospect of (C919) obtaining EU certification in 2025 is more optimistic," the person said. Some Chinese civil aviation industry officials believe that the visit of the EASA delegation marks a step forward for EU regulators in understanding Chinese aircraft and their design and manufacturing, and call it "a breakthrough."

The South China Morning Post pointed out that COMAC first applied for EASA certification in 2019, and the certification process is being "accelerated" one year after the C919 completed its first commercial flight in May last year and successfully opened domestic routes.
