"This car is so beautiful!" The moment he saw the Hongqi S9 supercar, Bangladeshi student Meng Lai was immediately attracted by its cool appearance and excitedly stepped forward to take a photo.
Young international students from Malaysia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya and other countries recently started a week-long field trip to Jilin in Changchun. They will immerse themselves in the local natural scenery, historical culture and development changes.
The first acquaintance with Jilin starts with automobiles. Changchun, the starting point of this activity, is the cradle of the automobile industry of New China and is known as the "Automobile City". On July 13, 1956, the first Jiefang brand truck rolled off the assembly line here, ending the history of New China's inability to produce automobiles.
On August 5, young international students from many countries visited the China FAW R&D Center. Photo by Gao Longan
Walking into the FAW R&D Center, you can see strong Chinese elements and a strong sense of technology. The Hongqi concept car model, various models of Hongqi cars, as well as new energy vehicle intelligent chassis, intelligent cockpit and other products on display on site made the young international students dazzled.
Hongqi is a representative of Chinese automobile brands. When Meng Lai sat in the cockpit of a Hongqi car for the first time, he felt extremely comfortable. He held the steering wheel tightly with both hands and pretended to step on the accelerator. "I really want to drive it once and buy one in the future."
High-power hydrogen fuel cell engines, efficient dual-motor hybrid systems... Du Qiao, an Uzbek student studying for a master's degree at Beijing Jiaotong University, is a little shy, but he becomes "talkative" when talking about topics related to electricity.
Du Qiao stood in front of an engine for a long time, carefully looking at the complex parameters while communicating with his companions. He was impressed by the high technical level and many application results of China's new energy vehicle industry. "My current research topic is energy storage system, which is related to intelligent control and power equipment." Du Qiao said that his research results can be applied to the automotive field in the future.
It is understood that in the first half of this year, FAW applied for about 3,800 patents, of which invention patents accounted for 85%, breaking through 114 key core technologies. At present, FAW is making every effort to build a pure electric platform, a hybrid platform, and an intelligent platform.
"Without a driver, how does the car know where we are going?" Sitting in the fully automatic driving Hongqi smart minibus, Malawian student Yinuo found that there was no steering wheel, gear lever, or brake pedal in the car, only a display screen and a few physical buttons. "It is automatic and can take you to your destination," said Lu Jia, a Congolese student.
Yinuo sighed: "It feels like we are already in the 'future'." Turning around, she jokingly asked Lu Jia: "Are we still in 2024?" "No, it's '2030' now." (End)
