Recently, the game "Black Myth: Wukong" has become popular!

I have heard that middle-aged people love to watch Journey to the West. Many people have watched it many times without getting tired of it. Their interest is no longer in the stories of exorcising demons and monsters that they were familiar with in their childhood, but in the success of Sun Wukong in the workplace.

In the early days, Wukong was a straight man. Although he was a capable person, his emotional intelligence was not high. How could Wukong with low emotional intelligence become a Buddha?

Wukong is a child who has the best of both worlds, but as an orphan without a father or mother, Wukong has no family to support him, and it is impossible for him to break through the social class entirely on his own. After clearly seeing his disadvantages, Wukong soon went to the Flower-Fruit Mountain, where his kind gathered. After he integrated into the group, he easily gained a sense of identity and belonging, and at least he could keep warm together.

After all, he was a monkey who had seen the world. Wukong easily became the Monkey King in the Water Curtain Cave in the Flower-Fruit Mountain. This was the initial accumulation stage of his network. The network at this level was mainly supported by family affection, which did not help Wukong much in his later fame and fortune, but it was his warm harbor and his "Night Tokyo".

Whenever Wukong was depressed or frustrated at work, he would return to Huaguo Mountain to heal his body and mind. After causing havoc in the Heavenly Palace and being driven away by Tang Monk after his three fights with the White Bone Demon, Wukong chose this refuge and rear base. This is the same reason why we often want to go back to our hometown after encountering setbacks.

As a smart man with a forward-looking vision, Wukong knew very early that he must have his own core technology as the foundation of his life. So in the early days of his debut, he learned somersault cloud, seventy-two transformations and other technologies, using his extraordinary strength as a stepping stone to make friends with the big guys in the gods, ghosts, and demons, such as Taibai Jinxing, Erlang Shen, Bull Demon King, and the Four Seas Dragon Kings. This level of network of relationships was mostly forcibly woven in the early days due to the fear of Sun Wukong's golden hoop, and was gradually consolidated during the later journey to obtain scriptures.

When Monkey King made trouble in Heaven, he had strong limbs but a simple mind and was very immature. He caused a big disturbance at the Peach Banquet and kicked over the alchemy furnace, which made the Jade Emperor very angry. This led to the appearance of Buddha, who gave Monkey King his first real reprimand and deprived him of his freedom under the Five Finger Mountain for 500 years.

These 500 years of physical and mental suffering taught the unruly Monkey King to keep a low profile, which was probably an important test for him before entering the system.

After entering the system, Wukong had to form a more powerful faction. Wukong's actual leaders, from bottom to top, were team leader Tang Seng, middle-level leader Guanyin, and senior leader Tathagata. Among them, Guanyin was Tathagata's confidant and an important force in maintaining the Lingshan system. She had a very high status and influence, and was well versed in the art of balance. She would not overly promote or suppress Wukong, but would help Wukong at critical moments.

Sun Wukong's actual feelings towards them are very complicated, he respects them, hates them and fears them.

Most of the other Bodhisattvas or gods are at the same level as Guanyin, and the various demons are the mounts or boys of the gods. In short, they are subordinates with extraordinary origins.

Therefore, in "Game of the West", not many demons were killed by Wukong. At critical moments, there were always gods who came to protect them, gave them a few symbolic reprimands, and then took them back personally as punishment. The only most famous demon who was killed was the White Bone Demon. The White Bone Demon was a grassroots person, so he was killed.

The three fights against the White Bone Demon were also a leap forward in Wukong's cognition. First, we must abide by the rules and there must be no loopholes in the process. Second, we must not overdo it, be too emotional, or be too involved. Third, we must learn to be snobbish when it comes to work.

Sun Wukong's attitude towards connections at different levels also shows his increasingly mature emotional intelligence in the later period:

In order to maintain the close relationship with the family members in Huaguoshan, he needs to reminisce about the past, go home often, become their clear backer, and deter the demons. Sometimes, he can just send them some wine, food and fruits to maintain the relationship.

As for the second level of relationships, Wukong is mostly capable of managing them. Even when he asks for help, he is casual and calls people brothers, not taking it seriously. The more he does this, the more others take his affairs seriously, because in addition to his own strong strength, Wukong also has an official status, connections with the upper class, and a special mission to obtain scriptures. These bigwigs in the world of gods and demons are all worldly-wise people, and they will secretly consider giving the green light in the future to facilitate future resource integration.

As for his superiors such as Tang Seng, Guanyin, and Tathagata, Wukong becomes more and more respectful, because they are really not a makeshift group. In addition to the fact that they have the trump card to check and balance Wukong, it is not ruled out that Wukong cannot resist the temptation of being promoted and becoming a Buddha.

Following without real responsibilities and interests is not following. They are true mentors and apprentices.

And the closer he got to Lingshan, the less casual Wukong became. He knew how to "manage upwards" and replaced his emotional consumption with calm thinking. He understood that attitude was far more important than strength.

Leaders actually don’t like subordinates who are neither humble nor overbearing. They may give them superficial respect and courtesy, but in actual work, they will basically not provide them with resources, opportunities and support, nor will they let them participate in the distribution of the cake.

Having seen through all this, Wukong also learned to manage the expectations of his leaders, slowly adding things to the equation and leaving enough room for error.

Because the mature Wukong has understood that if you want to be noble, you should be free and unrestrained, noble to the end; if you want to enter the circle, you should put down your status and enter the game. Promotion is never a reward, but a transaction.

Sun Wukong's philosophy of networking is also very suitable for application in Shanghai today.

My teacher said that if a person with ordinary background and qualifications wants to do well in Shanghai, he must possess "three golds": silence is gold, commitment is gold, and connections are gold.

For ordinary people, two things must be done to maintain smooth personal connections. In terms of being a person, one must be a "man of the scene", know the pros and cons, have a temperamental side, and have calm and measured judgment; in terms of doing things, one must be calm and beautiful, and it is best if one has core technologies.Doing things well mainly depends on hard power, while being a beautiful person mainly depends on soft power.

The first real middle class in China appeared in Shanghai. The middle class is a class of people who have no land in the countryside and rely on salary to make a living. They rely on the city for survival. They must cultivate a good mind and planning ability to make themselves and their families live comfortably. Not only the hardware must be acceptable, but the surrounding environment must also be smooth and friendly. The two are interdependent. The surrounding soft environment is the network of people.

Birds of a feather flock together. A thoughtful and perceptive person will always have a circle that suits his or her characteristics, identity, and status. If circles can be linked one after another, a certain social order can be established.

In Shanghai, whether it is soft circles such as friends, workplace circles, and playmates, or hard circles such as finance, art, media, and power circles, or flexible circles such as Party School/Socialist College alumni circles, various institutional associations, and fraternities, as long as it is a healthy and efficient team, it can often shoulder specific social responsibilities and social missions and become a vital force to promote social progress.

After all, except for a few rare artists and mystics who can achieve great success in isolation from the world, it is impossible to separate the spiritual world of most people from the real world.

The characteristic of life in this international city is to break through the narrow group and realize the survival cooperation on a larger scale. A person knows a limited number of people, but has unlimited things to do, which forms a long transmission chain or even a huge complex network of relationships. Most smart and practical people are happy to play their role in this chain and network to the appropriate extent.

In fact, how can the real deep connection between people be easily revealed to others? When it comes to friendship, each level of the heart can only accommodate a limited number of people. People who see the essence in a meal and people who can't see the essence in half a lifetime are not really on the same path. When they get together, they just eat and drink. Li Zehou's acquaintances say that he walks with a proud look, while his good friends say that he walks alone.

Many people follow the way of Sun Wukong and divide their personal connections into three levels, covering all levels. Consciously cultivate and build their own network of relationships. Sometimes seemingly useless people can also play a magical role in a specific time and space. They will not let go of any seemingly irrelevant clues at will.

Different from the "acquaintance society" in other cities, "there are people when there is something to do, and no one when there is nothing to do", this is a unique phenomenon in Shanghai's social field, which has received mixed reviews. There is no need to contact frequently, to show your presence all the time, or to often get together to eat and drink, or to exchange gifts.

They may not interact much at ordinary times, but once one party entrusts someone with something, the entrusted party will do their best to fulfill it without asking for anything in return. The next time the two parties reverse their roles, the basic effect is similar.

The premise of this kind of interaction is that the people are right for each other, have certain values and platforms, and the values and contributions of each other are basically equal. This may be the unique tacit understanding and compassion between people in the fast-paced business society.
