In response to netizens' suggestion to "keep to the right and give way to people on Xi'an Metro escalators", Xi'an Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd. said on August 24 that walking or running on a running escalator is not recommended. "Walking on the left and standing on the right" is also not recommended.

On August 16, a netizen from Xi'an who claimed to be a high school student said that when taking the subway, he could see that some platforms "only had elevators but no stairs", so that some people in a hurry were blocked by two people sitting in the elevator side by side and could not go upstairs quickly. He suggested that in places where there are no stairs but only elevators, everyone should stand on the right to leave the road on the left for people in a hurry.

In response to netizens' suggestion to "walk on the left and stand on the right" when taking escalators, Xi'an Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd. replied on August 24 that since escalator steps are higher, unlike ordinary stair steps, passengers walking on a running escalator are prone to unstable center of gravity, which may cause falls due to inertia or cause other safety problems; at the same time, walking on the escalator for a long time in the "walk on the left and stand on the right" way is likely to cause uneven force on the escalator components and easily cause equipment failure. Therefore, Xi'an Metro does not advocate walking or running on a running escalator, and has posted "Escalator Safety Instructions" next to the escalator to remind the general public and passengers to ride escalators safely.

The reply stated that after investigation, many subway operators including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing and Hong Kong have clearly stopped advocating "walk on the left and stand on the right" when riding escalators to ensure the personal safety of passengers and equipment safety. In the future, Xi'an Metro will continue to focus on deepening and expanding its operational services, actively listen to and collect valuable opinions and suggestions from passengers, continuously improve service quality, and create a better travel environment.
