In an interview after the meeting, Dong Mingzhu, chairman and president of Gree Electric Appliances, talked about Gree’s ultimate goal: consumers will no longer need after-sales service for any product they buy from Gree.

According to the national service life, consumers are guaranteed not to need after-sales service.

In fact, Dong Mingzhu mentioned this ultimate goal two years ago, hoping to have 100% no after-sales service.

At present, Gree air conditioners can achieve maintenance at 0.03% of the time, that is, only 3 out of 10,000 units need maintenance. However, Gree sells 50 million units a year, which means that 15,000 units need maintenance, which is 150 million yuan based on 1,000 yuan.

It is worth noting that starting from March 1, 2021, Gree announced that it would provide 10 years of free warranty service for household air conditioners.

Prior to this, the general warranty period in the air-conditioning industry was 6 years. Gree’s introduction of a 10-year warranty was the first and the best in the industry.

There is currently no clear time regulation for the mandatory scrapping of air conditioners in my country, but according to the "Safe Use Period of Household Electrical Appliances" series of group standards formulated by the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, the safe use period of air conditioners is 10 years, which means that Gree air conditioners have currently achieved full life cycle protection.

As for air conditioners that are more than 10 years old, many experts recommend replacing them even if there are no problems with their use, because their internal circuits and components will age and wear out, and the growth of bacteria cannot be completely controlled, posing a safety hazard.
