At the end of May this year,BYDThe fifth-generation DM-i technology was officially launched. Along with the fifth-generation DM-i technology, BYD also released two sedans.Qin L DM-i andSeal 06 DM-i. With BYD's fifth-generation DM-i technology, based on the information currently available, the sales of the above two models should be quite impressive.

In particular, the sales volume of Qin L DM-i in June reached 18,021 units, ranking second among domestic mid-size sedans, second only toTesla Model 3

Two months later, on July 25, BYD made another effort. In Kaifeng, Henan, the ancient capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, BYD officially launched two new energy SUVs equipped with the fifth-generation DM-i technology. These two cars are BYD 2025 Song PLUS DM-i andSong L DM-i。

Many netizens have commented that the prices of BYD's two new cars are too high. Are they really that high? Let's analyze it objectively.

I believe everyone is already very familiar with Song PLUS DM-i. As the best-selling plug-in hybrid SUV model in China, Song PLUS DM-i can be called the benchmark model of plug-in hybrid SUV in China. In terms of interior design, the new car maintains a high degree of consistency with the current Song PLUS DM-i Honor Edition model, and basically there is not much change. In terms of body size, the length, width and height are still 4775/1890/1670 mm, and the wheelbase is 2765 mm.

Although the 2025 Song PLUS DM-i does not look much different from the 2024 Honor Edition currently on sale, the new car has made a lot of improvements in terms of invisible configurations, including fatigue driving reminder, automatic lane change assistance, steering wheel heating, steering wheel hand-off detection, 50-watt mobile phone wireless charging, ETC device, adaptive high and low beam, and sensor wipers.

At the same time, the rear suspension of the new car has been changed from the multi-link independent suspension of the current model to a four-link independent suspension.

In terms of acceleration performance, the 2025 Song PLUS DM-i has also had a significant improvement, with the 0-100 km/h acceleration increased from 8.2 seconds to 7.7 seconds.

As a new model under BYD Dynasty, Song L DM-i is positioned as a medium-sized SUV. Its exterior design is the same as the previously launched Qin L DM-i, adopting the BYD Dynasty series family appearance, which is very recognizable. It is equipped with hidden door handles. The length, width and height are 4780/1898/1670 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2782 mm.

In terms of configuration, the new car is equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, voice wake-up function, 360-degree panoramic image, remote parking, automatic air conditioning, ETC device, in-car PM2.5 filter and sensor wipers.

The configuration of Song L DM-i is also richer in the mid-to-high-end models, including a 15.6-inch central control screen, a 26-inch HUD head-up display, four-zone audio recognition, L2-level assisted driving, automatic parking, automatic lane change, 50-watt mobile phone wireless charging, facial recognition, and Yanfei Lisi audio.

In terms of power, Song L DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i are consistent, with the fastest 0-100 km acceleration of 7.7 seconds and a pure electric range of 160 kilometers.

In actual media tests, the Song PLUS DM-i has a minimum fuel consumption of 3.27 liters per 100 kilometers, and the Song L DM-i has a minimum fuel consumption of 3.13 liters per 100 kilometers. Both cars have excellent fuel consumption performance.

It should be noted that although the entry-level models of Song PLUS DM-i and Song L DM-i do not support the fast charging function, the charging time of other configuration models has been greatly improved compared to the current Song PLUS DM-i.

In summary, judging from the overall configuration and price of the two "double Song" models launched by BYD this time, although the Song PLUS DM-i is slightly higher than the current model, the configuration is also richer. Moreover, the Song L DM-i is a mid-size SUV.

Therefore, in the opinion of Chekuaiping, BYD's "Song-Song" with a starting price of 135,800 yuan is not really expensive.
