dai bing said that in the next stage, the african union transitional mission in somalia will transition to the new african union mission. china hopes that somalia, the african union, the united nations and other relevant parties will strengthen communication and coordination, reach consensus on various arrangements for the new mission, and ensure the smooth progress of relevant work. china calls on traditional donors such as the european union to maintain their funding for the new mission and continue to contribute to somalia’s security and stability. the security council should respond to africa's initiative, actively study various effective options, and provide sustainable and predictable financial support for new missions.

dai bing said that over the years, somalia's political transition has continued to advance and national governance has continued to improve. the united nations assistance mission in somalia (unsom) has done a lot of work for this purpose. the somali government has repeatedly called on unsom to transition to the united nations country team, and recently submitted a two-year transition plan to the security council. on this basis, the security council should adjust and streamline the mandate of unsom in accordance with somalia's national development priorities to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
