it house reported on september 29 that the 2024 world new energy vehicle conference with the theme of "low carbon transformation and global cooperation" opened in haikou on september 27. zeng yuqun, chairman of catl, delivered a speech at the conference.
zeng yuqun talked about the ningde era"zero carbon new infrastructure" plan, the company has built a complete battery life cycle management system, covering all aspects of the upstream supply chain, battery design, production, use, recycling and remanufacturing.
in this recycling ecosystem, catl’s batteries can be recycled 15,000 times, and the energy storage system has a service life of more than 20 years.
some people may ask, what will happen in 20 years? don't worry about this issue. last year, we recycled 100,000 tons of used batteries and re-produced 13,000 tons of lithium carbonate.the recovery rate of lithium has reached 91.0%, and the recovery rate of nickel, cobalt and manganese has also reached 99.6%。
so far, the scale of lithium battery recycling has ranked first in the world for many years. the recycling of lithium iron batteries has also achieved the world's first large-scale industrialization, with a processing capacity of 270,000 tons of used batteries, and will reach a recycling capacity of 1 million tons of used batteries in the future. . it is estimated that by 2042, half of the batteries produced globally will use recycled lithium and half will use minerals, which will be able to meet social needs.
it home learned from the conference that zeng yuqun also revealed that catl is rapidly advancing the implementation of its zero-carbon strategy:
currently, we have nine battery factories that have obtained "zero carbon" certification.next year, our battery factories will all become "zero carbon factories"。
by 2035, we will make our battery value chain carbon neutral. in other words, all batteries we produce will be "carbon neutral" by then.
currently, we are working with the global battery alliance (gba) to jointly carry out the "battery passport" pilot project, and released the first batch of battery passports in davos, switzerland in january last year. today, i would like to take this opportunity to reveal to you, soon, new battery passport standards will be released. i believe it will become the “passport” for batteries to participate in zero-carbon new infrastructure.
