the 2024 national badminton individual championships came to an end in shenyang, liaoning a few days ago. the five individual championships were won by five teams. zhejiang teenager wu mengying and her partner shen xuanyao won the mixed doubles championship.

the competition started on september 8 at the liaoning provincial gymnasium and lasted for eight days. 640 athletes from 24 professional teams from beijing, tianjin and other parts of the country registered to participate.

the doubles competition became a major attraction of this competition, and many outstanding players fought on two fronts. on the third to last day of the competition, some players who made it to the semifinals in two events had to withstand the test of four matches in one day. in the semifinals, ma xixiang, wu mengying, feng xueying, and huang kexin all made it to the semifinals in two events. in the end, the 21-year-old wu mengying of the zhejiang team became the only player to make it to the finals in two events.

due to wu mengying's dual events, the mixed doubles and women's doubles finals she participated in were scheduled to be held in the first and fifth games respectively. the first mixed doubles final was a duel between two zhejiang pairs. the four "post-03" players staged a wonderful three-game battle that took 63 minutes. in the end, shen xuanyao/wu mengying, who had more competition experience, defeated liao pinyi/chen fanshutian 23-21, 19-21, 21-14 and won the national championship for the first time.

after taking a three-match break, wu mengying played again in the final women's doubles final. she and zheng lan lost to chen xiaofei/feng xueying of guangdong team 18-21, 14-21 and won the runner-up. after winning the championship, chen xiaofei/feng xueying achieved the seventh time to stand on the podium of the national women's doubles championship. they also won the championship of the national single championship and the national single championship this year.

in the women's singles final, cai yanyan of the beijing team defeated zhang xinran of the shandong team 21-12, 16-21, 21-13, defending her title and winning the championship for two consecutive years. in the men's singles final, zhao junpeng of the jiangxi team defeated zhou xinyu of the zhejiang team and won the men's singles championship of the national singles championship again after eight years since 2016. in the men's doubles final, tan qiang/liu yang of the anhui team defeated shang yichen/hu keyuan of shanghai. this was the first time that the anhui team won the gold medal in the national championships in this event.
