internet insurance business and supervision go hand in hand. over the years, internet insurance business supervision has played a positive role in preventing and resolving risks, effectively ensuring the development and growth of the internet insurance industry. the 2023 china internet insurance consumer insight report shows that the internet insurance purchase rate has increased from 63% in 2022 to 72% in 2023, and the proportion of consumers of all ages purchasing insurance through the internet has generally increased.
in just over 10 years, my country's internet insurance business regulatory policies and legal rules have been gradually improved from scratch, from scattered to systematic, and from extensive to refined. in december 2020, the china banking and insurance regulatory commission issued the "internet insurance business supervision measures". in order to solve problems such as false propaganda, traceability management, information management, forced bundling, cross-regional operations, cooperative operations of non-licensed institutions and after-sales services, the "notice on regulating the traceability management of internet insurance sales behavior", "notice on carrying out special rectification of internet insurance chaos", and "notice on strengthening and improving internet property insurance business supervision matters" have been successively issued. these regulatory policies and legal rules have formed a strict regulatory situation, guided by solving practical problems, and built a system to protect consumers' right to know, right to choose, right to fair trade and personal information rights, and regulate internet insurance business operations.
at present, there are still many problems in the supervision of internet insurance. for example, the supervision concept lags behind the expansion of business scenarios, there is a disconnect between supervision legislation and supervision and enforcement, and the intensity, accuracy and coverage of supervision and enforcement are still insufficient. in this regard, multiple measures should be taken to promote the continuous improvement of internet insurance supervision from the perspectives of regulatory entities, industries or enterprises, and consumers.
