in recent years, low-altitude economy, which features new productivity characteristics such as high technology, high efficiency and high quality, has become a hot word. from september 6 to 8, the 14th smart city and smart economy expo was held in ningbo, zhejiang, and the 2024 ningbo low-altitude economy industry high-quality development seminar was held during the expo.

it is reported that the low-altitude economy involves many fields such as drones, general aviation, low-altitude tourism, and low-altitude logistics, and has development prospects and market potential. the third plenary session of the 20th cpc central committee reviewed and approved the "decision of the cpc central committee on further deepening reform and promoting chinese-style modernization", in which "developing general aviation and low-altitude economy" was clearly written.
"developing the low-altitude economy is a complex systematic project, and we must do a solid job in basic supporting work." at the special seminar, sun weiguo, general manager of the general aviation business department of the china air transport association and director of the uav working committee, said that to this end, he suggested accelerating the construction of low-altitude infrastructure and improving the general airport network, low-altitude intelligent network, low-altitude route network, low-altitude service network, and comprehensive service guarantee network.

at the scene, qi zhongyang, associate researcher at the ningbo innovation institute of beijing university of aeronautics and astronautics, proposed to build a one-hour "air bus" traffic circle at 3,000 meters low altitude, build a business platform and express logistics system at 1,500 meters low altitude, and build a smart city at 1,000 meters low altitude. in addition, he also shared his views on "how ai (artificial intelligence) can help the low-altitude economy."
"at present, china unicom has built a low-altitude capability system integrating 'end-to-network, cloud, security and intelligence' based on the cloud, big data, internet of things, artificial intelligence and chain security capability base and operation service experience, and has made breakthroughs in the terminal side, network side, platform side, application side and other aspects." shi weiwei, deputy secretary of the party committee and deputy general manager of china unicom zhejiang branch, introduced at the seminar that on the terminal side, china unicom combined its own yanfei 5g internet of things module to carry out self-developed 5g airborne drone terminal supporting research and development and manufacturing, breaking through the bottleneck of drone line-of-sight communication.
during the seminar, yang wanbo, vice president and senior engineer of shenzhen urban transportation planning and design research center co., ltd., introduced the current status and future trends of shenzhen's low-altitude economic development. "shenzhen's low-altitude logistics flight scale and short-distance transportation scale are at the forefront of the country." yang wanbo said that shenzhen is currently conducting research on the planning and construction standards of low-altitude drone take-off and landing points, with the goal of building more than 10 large-scale low-altitude take-off and landing hubs, more than 40 registered helicopter airports, and more than 600 drone take-off and landing platforms.
