in september 1995, when the young nasser bushiba set foot on chinese soil for the first time with his luggage on his back, he would never have imagined that he would be connected with china from then on, and grow step by step into a friendly envoy traveling between africa and china, morocco and china, and devoting all his energy to cooperation, exchanges and mutual learning of civilizations between the two sides.
nasser bushiba is currently the chairman of the morocco-africa china cooperation and development association. when he first arrived in china, he visited the summer palace and boated on kunming lake with his classmates in beijing; in the golden autumn season, he climbed xiangshan mountain to enjoy the red leaves; and strolled through the alleys to experience the old beijing culture. later, he set out from beijing and traveled all over china, made warm and friendly chinese friends, mastered the chinese language and chinese characters, and gradually regarded china as his second home.
while writing his doctoral dissertation in 2016, nasser conducted an in-depth study of the 40 years of assistance provided by the chinese medical team to morocco. the chinese medical team not only improved the medical conditions in many remote areas of morocco, but also assisted in the training of young doctors and nurses in short supply, and promoted the application and dissemination of traditional chinese medicine in morocco. their deeds and achievements inspired nasser.
nasser and the association's representative in china, wang yongbao, exchanged views with the sudanese ambassador to morocco on cooperation between china and morocco in the fields of water conservancy, agriculture and mining.in 2018, nasser met a chinese person in charge of a completed infrastructure project in morocco. nasser asked him, "why didn't you arrange for moroccan engineers and technicians to participate in this project to achieve a certain knowledge transfer?" "the reason is simple, you didn't ask for it." the other party's answer made nasser think deeply. he stayed up all night that night and realized the necessity of establishing new communication channels to better understand each other's needs. only in this way can african countries eager for development better grasp the opportunities brought by the "belt and road" initiative.
in order to transform cooperation opportunities into landing projects, nasser and his chinese partners established a company in guangdong, formed an international morocco-china team in morocco, and clarified the direction of promoting the accelerated development of african countries' industries by introducing new technologies independently developed by china. the chinese headquarters provides strategic planning, financing, marketing, execution process and other support for the international project team. the international project team focuses on the localization coordination of the project and provides services in morocco for chinese technical experts to ensure comfortable life, smooth work and safety.
in june 2019, the china-africa cooperation and development association organized a delegation of chinese entrepreneurs with a background in water conservancy projects to visit morocco. after getting to know morocco's culture, economic development, and the challenges it faces due to continuous drought, chinese companies made a decisive decision and decided to invest together with local moroccan companies. three years later, the cooperation has borne fruit, and a world-leading seawater desalination plant has been built in morocco, producing fresh water for 200,000 people every day.

in may 2016, nasser participated in the state visit of king mohammed vi of morocco to china as an entourage. at the signing ceremony of the china-morocco cooperation documents presided over by the king, nasser read out the cooperation agreement on important moroccan-chinese projects in chinese. afterwards, nasser was summoned by the king at the diaoyutai state guesthouse in beijing, who affirmed his work in china and encouraged him to continue to contribute to strengthening the development of morocco-china cooperation.
in 1958, morocco became the second african country to establish diplomatic relations with the people's republic of china. after king mohammed vi's successful visit to china, nasser came up with the idea of writing the book "60 years of morocco-china cooperation". the book was written in chinese and later translated into arabic and french by nasser. the book has more than 200,000 words, systematically reviews the friendly exchanges between morocco and china over the past 60 years, and sorts out the cooperation process and many achievements of the two countries.
the china-africa cooperation and development association has specially established the "nasser bushiba international talent scholarship" to select outstanding young people from china and africa, carry out two-way study abroad, and promote china-africa cooperation. nasser said that in the context of china's advocacy of the concept of civilization exchange and mutual learning and building a community with a shared future for mankind to the world, they should vigorously learn and carry forward the spirit of moroccan traveler ibn battuta, encourage more chinese and african youth to go abroad through study abroad, academic exchanges, investigation and research, deeply feel and understand the connotation and characteristics of chinese and african cultures, and become messengers of cultural exchange and dissemination like ibn battuta, so as to more comprehensively promote china-africa cultural exchanges and mutual learning of civilizations, and promote "harmony in diversity and beauty in common" between china and africa.
