At about 8 am on August 13, as the No. 55880 test train drove out of Chengdu East Station, it marked the successful completion of the joint commissioning and testing of the Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan section of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway, and officially entered the operational test phase. It is expected that the section will be completed and opened to traffic within the year, and by then, "traveling in Jiuzhaigou by train" will become a reality.

What is an operation test? According to the relevant person in charge of the Chengdu Railway Bureau Group of China Railway, the operation test mainly tests the adaptability of the transportation organization of various systems of the high-speed railway line under normal and abnormal conditions through projects such as fault simulation, emergency rescue drills, train operation diagram parameter testing and driving tests according to the diagram, verifies whether the driving organization method can meet the operational requirements, and provides a technical basis for improving the transportation organization plan.
Sichuan-Qinghai Railway Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan section begins test run
Li Qun, commander of the Sichuan-Qinghai Command of Chengdu-Lanzhou Railway Company, introduced that since the official start of construction of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway in 2014, all participating units have overcome many difficulties such as complex geological conditions, difficult construction, lack of oxygen on the plateau, and inconvenient transportation, ensuring the progress and quality safety of the project. During the joint adjustment and testing of the Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan section, relevant units such as China Railway No. 8 Engineering Bureau and China Railway Electrification Bureau selected elite personnel and worked with relevant units of Chengdu Bureau to successfully complete the line fine adjustment, fine tamping and defect elimination work, creating the prerequisite for the start of the operation test.
The test train arrives at Songpan Station
It is reported that the Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan section of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway will be opened to traffic within this year, and the train will go directly to Huanglong Jiuzhaigou Station. The station is about 26 kilometers away from Huanglong Scenic Area, about 90 kilometers away from Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, and about 180 kilometers away from Ruoergai Prairie National Park. In the future, tourists can get to Huanglong in about 30 minutes and Jiuzhaigou in about 1 hour and 40 minutes by car from here, which will greatly shorten the driving time from Chengdu to the two scenic spots.
The railway department reminds that the Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan section of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway has been closed and isolated. Any unauthorized entry into the line or intrusion into the limit is illegal, and the railway public security authorities will severely investigate and deal with it in accordance with the law. At the same time, during the test, the train will run at high speed, and people along the line should not watch or stay, and should not fly drones, kites and other airborne objects near the line. Any behavior that endangers railway transportation safety is strictly prohibited.

The Sichuan-Qinghai Railway starts from Chengdu East Station, passes through Chengdu City, Aba Prefecture, Gannan Prefecture, Gansu Province, Huangnan Prefecture, Haidong City, Xining City, Qinghai Province, and connects to Xining Station. The main line is about 836 kilometers long and has a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour. The section from Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan is about 70 kilometers long and has four stations: Zhenjiangguan, Songpan, Huanglong Jiuzhai and Huangshengguan.
Construction schedule for the Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan section:
September 2014: Construction started;
May 11, 2024: Desheng Tunnel is completed, and the last obstacle for trains to Jiuzhaigou is removed;
June 29, 2024: Track laying of the entire line is completed;
July 10, 2024: All three new station buildings are completed;
July 21, 2024: Enter the joint debugging and testing phase;
August 13, 2024: Enter the operational test phase.
