In the first half of the year, BMW's global deliveries reached 1.0965 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%, and the situation is looking up;

But looking only at the domestic market, sales in the first half of the year were 375,900 vehicles (includingMINIbrand), down 4.2% year-on-year.

BMW has made price concessions, its brand value has been damaged, and its market share in China has further declined. BMW is certainly not happy about this.

Under the leadership of BMW, the price war hasAudi, Mercedes-Benz and even other traditional car companies performed exceptionally well this time, realizing the true "auto industry together".

Within just a few days, they all announced their complete withdrawal from the "price war", and the dealers were caught off guard. At one point, there was a strange phenomenon that car owners ordered cars at the original base price, but the 4S stores refused to give them the cars.

The “price war” is over, but BBA still cannot escape the “new energy” battle. Let’s take a look at what new products they will have in the future.

Waiting for BMW in 2026

Let’s take a look at BMW first:

In fact, although BMW was engaged in a painful price war in the first half of the year, it has never stopped outputting product updates.

In the first half of the year, BMW released the mid-term facelift of the 4 Series family, the new i4, the much-criticized 5 Series, the i5 Touring, the second new generation concept car BMW Vision Neue Klasse X, the well-received new 3 Series, the domestically produced extended X1 M35Li, and so on.

In the second half of the year, BMW is waiting to release new products including the new generation BMW M5, the newBMW 2 Series、BMW X1 M. New GenerationBMW X3Throughout 2024, BMW will launch more than 20 new BMW and MINI brand models in the Chinese market.

Although there are many new products with “small updates and major upgrades”, there are almost no mass-produced new electric products in the new product launch sequence.

So, where are BMW's electric cars?

At present, BMW's pure electric i series products are still produced on the same line as fuel vehicles, and BMW plans to launch "new generation" models in the future.

As the name "new generation" suggests, of course everything must be new.

A new pure electric platform and new electronic electric drive technology must be arranged.

At present, BMW's "new generation" car models have released two concept products: a sedan and an SUV.

However, the "new generation" models will not be officially put into production in China until 2026, which is the big year for BMW's pure electric products.

In the remaining year and a half, BMW, which does not want to engage in price wars and only wants to maintain profit margins, can only rely on the i series for pure electric products.

Audi waiting for Q9

Coincidentally, 2026 is also a big year for products for Audi.

Recently, a new car planning information for Audi in the Chinese market was exposed, and we can see a list of all Audi’s new cars from 2024 to 2026.

First of all, there is a mid-term facelift this yearAudi A3, and the second major faceliftAudi Q7/SQ7, mid-term faceliftAudi Q8And other models.

By 2025, Audi's new car lineup in China will include:Audi RS 6 GT, mid-term facelift RS Q8, new generation A4L (B10, to be renamed A5), new generation Q5L, mid-term facelift RS e-tron GT, Q6L e-tron, Q6L Sportback e-tron, A6L e-tron.

In 2026, the big year for products, Audi's new car matrix includes the new generation Q3, the new generation Q7, SQ8, the new flagship SUV Q9, the new generation A6L and its station wagon, the S and RS versions of the Q6 e-tron, the A6L e-tron coupe version/station wagon, etc.

The new flagship large SUV, Audi Q9, which will be launched in 2026, is particularly worthy of attention. It may become the largest flagship SUV among the BBA first-tier luxury brands.

In terms of the entire pure electric product planning, in addition to the Audi FAW factory that will put into production products such as the PPE platform Q6L e-tron and Q6L Sportback e-tron in the domestic market, the actions of SAIC Audi are also worthy of attention.

In May this year, SAIC and Audi signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop a new "smart digital platform" designed specifically for the Chinese market.

According to the plan, SAIC Audi's first batch of pure electric models will be three new cars covering the B-class and C-class car markets.

The first model will be launched in 2025.Zhiji L6We will soon be able to see Audi's pure electric sedan based on the same platform as L7.

With the cooperation with SAIC, Audi's moves on pure electric products will be faster than BMW.

Mercedes-Benz races against time

Mercedes-Benz is different from the above two. They only care about the day.

This year alone, Mercedes-Benz will launch more than 15 new and mid-term facelift models, all of which are heavyweights.

At present, we can see the pure electric G-Class, the newMaybach EQS SUV、AMG EQE 53 SUV、NewGLCPlug-in hybrid models, and a new generationEQAandEQB, both oil and electricity products are available.

But in terms of pure electric, the most important model is electricBig G, which is the Mercedes-Benz EQG G580B that was first launched at the Beijing Auto Show.

It adopts a four-independent motor configuration and has G-turn technology similar to the U8's on-the-spot U-turn. The maximum combined power output is 432kW, the lithium-ion power battery pack is 116kWh, and the WLTP operating range is up to 473km. The price has not yet been announced.

Other medium and large pure electric products in the EQ series, such asEQE、EQSAll are based on the EVA pure electric exclusive platform (except EQG)

The EQA and EQB are based on the same platform as fuel-powered vehicles of the same level.

It is obviously a bit strange to convert half of the vehicle into electricity and half of the vehicle into gasoline, so Mercedes-Benz will also launch a new pure electric MMA platform next year.

At the same time, Mercedes-Benz's new pure electric model built on the MMA platform will also be produced in China next year.

According to the plan, the new MMA platform will launch four models, including a four-door coupe, a shooting brake and two SUVs.

For example, at the 2023 Munich Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz released a new entry-level concept car, the CLA. This controversial product, with its entire body printed with the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star and design, will be born on the MMA platform.

As a new pure electric platform that will not have mass production until 2025, the Mercedes-Benz MMA platform will also be equipped with 800V fast charging, the new MB.OS operating system, the new electric drive system and other cutting-edge Mercedes-Benz pure electric technologies.

It can be seen that compared to BMW, which will not launch a new generation of pure electric products in the domestic market until 2026, we will be able to see new pure electric cars from Audi and Mercedes-Benz based on a new platform as early as next year.
