cui zhe, 38 years old this year, was born in guozhuang village, nanwangdian town, dingtao district, heze city. when she was 2 years old, she suffered from polio, which caused her leg disability. in 2002, the dingtao district disabled persons' federation established a sports training base for the disabled and came to cui zhe's junior high school to recruit athletes. after much consideration, cui zhe signed up, and her athletic career began. in 2003, she participated in the provincial competition for the first time - the women's 40kg weightlifting competition of the 6th shandong provincial games for the disabled, and won the gold medal in one fell swoop. today, she has participated in more than 40 major domestic and international competitions, won 47 gold medals, 8 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and broke world records many times.
in recent years, dingtao district has vigorously developed the competitive sports for the disabled, actively explored and cultivated the sports specialties of the disabled, and the competitive sports for the disabled have been at the forefront of the city, the province and even the country. it has cultivated three national athletes, including cui zhe, cui jianjin, and yang quanxi, and 17 provincial athletes. it has successively selected disabled athletes to participate in major domestic and international sports competitions in eight events, including weightlifting, track and field, and cycling, and won a total of 352 gold, silver and bronze medals, including 73 gold medals in world-class competitions and 119 gold medals in national competitions. in 2007, the dingtao district disabled sports center was named "shandong disabled sports training base" by the provincial disabled persons' federation and the provincial sports bureau, and in 2016 it was named "national disabled sports training base" by the china disabled persons' federation and the state general administration of sports. in 2022, the dingtao district disabled sports center was collectively commended by the provincial disabled persons' federation; cui zhe and sun yafei were commended by the provincial party committee and the provincial government.
