the 62-day railway summer transport ended successfully on august 31. the reporter learned from china railway beijing bureau that during the summer transport period, china railway beijing bureau sent a total of 76.554 million passengers, with an average daily passenger volume of 1.235 million. the total passenger volume exceeded 7.8% of 2023, and many lines and stations set a record high in the single-day passenger volume during the summer.
on august 24, the beijing railway bureau of china railway sent 1.5007 million passengers, setting a new record for the number of passengers sent on a single day during the summer season. nine lines, including the beijing-guangzhou high-speed railway, tianjin-bao passenger railway, beijing-tianjin intercity railway, and tianjin-xingtai intercity railway, and six stations, including beijing south, beijing chaoyang, beijing north, qinghe, tianjin west, and shijiazhuang, set new records for the number of passengers sent on a single day (not on the same day) during the summer season. on august 24, the beijing-shanghai high-speed railway sent 192,600 passengers, and xingtai east station sent 12,200 passengers. on august 17, beijing fengtai station sent 88,700 passengers, all setting new records.
in order to meet the combined passenger flow demands of summer tourism, family visits and student flows, the railway department optimized the efficiency of high-speed railways and passenger dedicated lines, expanded the transportation capacity of conventional passenger cars, added 160 pairs of passenger trains, and supplemented the transportation capacity to popular destinations such as harbin, shenyang, qingdao, jinan, taiyuan, qinhuangdao and shijiazhuang.
so far, china railway beijing bureau has operated 265 pairs of commuter trains around beijing, covering 9 high-speed railways and 10 conventional lines. since july 19, the railway has increased the transport capacity in the beijing-tianjin-hebei region, and launched 4 pairs of emu trains from beijing west (beijing fengtai) to shijiazhuang, sending a total of 307,000 passengers (8,100 passengers per day) during the summer vacation, with an occupancy rate of 96.2%. on weekends, 8 conventional trains were added on the beijing-guangzhou line, 2 conventional trains between beijing and tianjin on the beijing-shanghai line, and 2 emu trains to hengshui on the beijing-kowloon line. since the summer vacation, the additional commuter trains around beijing have sent a total of 572,000 passengers, with an occupancy rate of 109.3%.
with the enrollment of new students and students returning to school, the railway has ushered in a peak in student passenger flow. china railway beijing bureau expects to send 860,000 student passengers, with 103,000 passengers sent on the peak day of august 31. at present, beijing railway station, beijing west railway station, beijing south railway station and other passenger stations have opened special windows for student passengers during the peak period of students returning to school, facilitating inquiries, qualification verification, ticket purchase, ticket changes and other services.
in terms of innovative service measures, during the summer travel season, the railway promoted the implementation of the number of times ticket and regular ticket business on the beijing-zhangjiakou high-speed railway and the beijing-xiong intercity railway. beijing railway station expanded the area of the love service area to 200 square meters. the "beijing railway love" service room is equipped with wheelchairs, stretchers, medicine boxes, sewing boxes and other love treasure boxes. the waiting room has been added with precious chinese paintings to optimize the waiting environment for passengers. beijing west railway station has facilitated passengers to transfer conveniently by adding transfer channels, adding guide signs, and adding manual publicity and guidance. after getting off the train at the station, passengers can transfer to the nearest station from the east and west sides of the platform according to the signs, without leaving the station and re-checking. on each high-speed train, the railway has launched 17 new meals including children's multi-flavor fun set meal, vegetarian grilled king oyster mushroom all-vegetarian set meal, etc. for the beijing-hong kong high-speed train sleeper train, it has launched a shacha beef set meal and hong kong-style egg fried noodles.
during the summer transportation period, china railway beijing bureau shipped a total of 20.73 million tons of thermal coal. as of august 31, the average number of days of coal storage in the 45 power plants under its jurisdiction was 33.2 days, providing a strong guarantee for the people to spend the summer in a cool environment. a total of 481,000 tons of grain, 346,000 tons of fertilizers, and 1.167 million tons of refined oil were unloaded.
in july and august, china railway beijing bureau promoted the "road-to-rail" transportation of ports under its jurisdiction, such as tianjin port, caofeidian port, and huanghua port, and implemented two-way co-location with the ports to facilitate the sharing of logistics information and unified dispatching and command between the railway and ports. during the summer transportation period, the three ports transported a total of 20.75 million tons of goods by rail.
