Recently, transportation departments in many places have issued risk warnings for the online car-hailing market, publicly reminding people to be cautious when entering the online car-hailing industry. The risk warning information shows that the capacity of online car-hailing in many places is tending to be saturated or in oversupply.
On August 13, the Highway and Transportation Management Center of Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, issued a risk warning for the online car-hailing market in Jiaxing City. By the end of June 2024, there were 17,000 online car-hailing vehicles in the city, and 40,000 people had obtained taxi driver qualifications. In the second quarter of 2024, the average daily order of online car-hailing vehicles in the city was 171,000, an increase of 10,000 orders from the first quarter; the average daily order per vehicle was 11.9 orders, and the average daily revenue per vehicle was 214.7 yuan (excluding operating costs), which were 0.6 orders and 9.9 yuan lower than the first quarter, respectively.
The risk warning points out that the total number of orders has increased, and the average daily order volume and revenue of each vehicle have decreased to varying degrees. In view of the above risks, drivers and companies that intend to enter the online car-hailing market are requested to have a deep understanding of laws and policies, fully investigate market revenue, and reasonably assess operating risks to avoid unnecessary economic losses, conflicts or expected earnings due to blindly entering the market and incomplete understanding of policies. Please make rational and prudent choices in your career.
Since the second half of the year, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Nanning, Qionghai and other places have issued warnings related to the online car-hailing industry.
On July 19, Suzhou City issued a warning about the operation dynamics and risks of the online car-hailing market, saying that according to the second quarter operation dynamics data, the number of online car-hailing platforms decreased by 7 compared with the previous quarter, but the scale of the online car-hailing market continued to expand, the average daily order volume of a single vehicle decreased, and the online car-hailing market has become saturated. Enterprises and personnel who intend to engage in the online car-hailing industry in Suzhou City are especially reminded to objectively analyze and evaluate operating returns, reasonably assess risks, and avoid blindly entering the market.
On August 7, the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Bureau issued a warning about the operation of the online car-hailing industry and its risks. It mentioned that the public transportation system is becoming increasingly complete, and the online car-hailing market, as a supplement to urban public transportation, has become saturated. It reminds companies and practitioners who intend to engage in online car-hailing operations to make rational and prudent choices.
In addition, the recent operating risks of online ride-hailing services are also worthy of attention.
The online ride-hailing business risk warning issued by Xi'an City on August 4 pointed out that due to the "running away" of some online ride-hailing "service companies" due to operational problems, online ride-hailing drivers suffered economic losses. Therefore, an operational risk warning was issued to the majority of practitioners and operators who are willing to enter the online ride-hailing market, reminding them to guard against risks and safeguard their own rights and interests.
It is worth noting that as the market in some cities becomes saturated, the average daily number of online ride-hailing orders and revenue have also declined.
Taking Guangzhou as an example, the monthly report on online car-hailing market operation management monitoring information released by Guangzhou on August 4 showed that in June 2024, the average daily order volume of online car-hailing vehicles in the city was about 12.71 orders, the average daily operating mileage of each vehicle was about 103.22 kilometers, and the average daily revenue of each vehicle was about 338.38 yuan.
Compared with last year, these indicators have declined. The monthly report in June last year showed that the average daily order volume of online ride-hailing vehicles in Guangzhou was about 14.62 orders, the average daily operating mileage of a single vehicle was about 111.11 kilometers, and the average daily revenue of a single vehicle was about 355.17 yuan.
