"Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" August 12 (Reporter Huang Xinyi)Although Luobokuaipao has not yet made a profit, some criminals have already set their eyes on this piece of cake.

On August 12, Luobo Kuaipao released a statement saying that it had immediately reported to relevant departments the recent illegal activities of criminals developing fake websites and apps in the name of "Luobo Kuaipao" and spreading false investment and leasing information through the Internet (social media, chat software, etc.), which were suspected of illegally obtaining citizens' personal information and defrauding people. At the same time, more than 800 reports have been made to various social media platforms, and 736 rumors have been removed so far.

The reporter of the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily learned that some criminals imitated the website of Luobo Kuaipao to induce users to rent driverless vehicles, and the withdrawal of income required binding bank card information. Luobo Kuaipao emphasized in a statement that it has never carried out related businesses such as "franchising", "leasing" and "fund raising" by itself or authorized any third party.

Many industry insiders told the reporter of the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily that the commercialization of driverless taxis is not yet ready and is expected to take 2 to 3 years. Whether Luobo Kuaipao will be open to franchise in the future will need to be carried out step by step based on the commercial testing situation, operation and adjustment, as well as the maturity of technology.

▍Imitating the Carrot Run website to trick users into renting vehicles

A reporter from the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily learned from a user who had previously registered a counterfeit website that criminals registered a domain name with the words apollllo2, imitating the name of Baidu's autonomous driving platform apollo to attract users to register and log in.

Imitation carrot run interface

The user passed the registration authentication with a fabricated name and ID number. The customer service of the counterfeit platform said that this project is a beta version of Carrot Run. During the internal test, the official will provide 20,000 free test places and provide users with Carrot Run vehicles.

After registration, the user is asked to claim a Carrot test taxi, with the lease term shown as 10 years. The lessee is required to pay the placement fee, and the vehicle management fees, electricity bills, insurance premiums, and maintenance fees incurred later are claimed to be paid in advance by the platform.

The website also provides a settlement example: Mr. Wang obtained a rental quota for a car through sharing, with a 10-year lease term and guaranteed income. The car has received orders 24 hours a day since its launch, with an income of 3-50 yuan per order, an average of 20 orders per day, and a daily output value income of 200-500 yuan. The vehicle has a guaranteed income of 200 yuan. The output value income is automatically settled to the AI wallet, and you can withdraw cash freely on the settlement day. (The car has a guaranteed weekly income of 200*7=1400 yuan, and a monthly income of 200*30=6000 yuan)

In this regard, Luobo Kuaipao reminds netizens to be vigilant.Look for the official website of Luobo Kuaipao, official social accounts, and official apps, strengthen risk prevention awareness, and do not trust any forged content and false promises from lawbreakers to prevent losses. Once any illegal acts are found in the name of "LuoBoKuaiPao" or impersonating LuoBoKuaiPao staff, netizens can verify or report them by leaving a message on the official WeChat public account of LuoBoKuaiPao Autonomous Driving or other means.

▍LoBoKuaiPao, Pony.ai and others have no plans to recruit investors for now

The reporter of "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" learned that after Wuhan Luobo Kuaipao became popular on the Internet, many business owners were asking about how to join Luobo Kuaipao, which may have given criminals a business opportunity.

Zhang Yi, CEO and chief analyst of iMedia Consulting, believes that the existence of online scammers to a certain extent shows that many companies or individuals are still optimistic about this business model and are willing to pay for joining, which just shows the market demand.

However, companies such as Luobokuai and Pony.ai have no plans to attract investment and franchisees yet.

In a statement, Carrot Run said:We have never conducted any business related to "franchising", "leasing", "fund raising" or any third party by ourselves or authorized it to do so.Luobokuaipao said it will resolutely crack down on any unauthorized infringement, fraud or other illegal activities that may harm the public interest under the name of "Luobokuaipao" and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the company and related netizens through legal means.

Pony.ai, which has obtained full unmanned passenger licenses in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, responded to a reporter from the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily that:Pony.ai Robotaxi's current business model is mainly to build its own autonomous driving travel technology platform and promote cooperation with third-party leading travel platforms. There is no plan to start a franchise model.

Zhu Wei, associate professor at China University of Political Science and Law and member of the Expert Committee of the China Consumers Association, pointed out: "Autonomous driving is at a critical stage of technological exploration. Internet users should be vigilant, enhance their awareness of self-protection, and not disclose important information such as personal information and bank accounts at will. Once they find that they have been deceived, they should report it immediately and keep relevant evidence."

▍It will take another two to three years for commercialization

Many industry insiders have analyzed that the time is not yet right for the commercialization of driverless taxis.

An expert in the field of intelligent driving analyzed to the reporter of "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" that Robotaxi alone cannot form an ecological niche, and passenger car manufacturers will still occupy the majority, which is one of the reasons why Baidu builds its own cars.Robotaxi is still in the technical development and testing stage. It will take about three years for it to be officially commercialized.。”

He Xiaopeng, CEO of Xpeng Motors, said in a WeChat Moments post: “After discussing Robotaxi with friends in the industry, I concluded that the capabilities, regulations, and commercial closed loops are not there yet.The reason why we say that we will break even soon is that we haven’t calculated many accounts. But the process is accelerating. I think we will reach a turning point in about two years.。”

Zhang Yi judged thatIf platforms like Luobokuaipao want to become bigger and stronger, they will inevitably open up to franchisees in the future. This is determined by business development."It is unlikely that Baidu itself can complete all of them. Just like Baidu's search business, it has one or two directly-operated branches, and the rest are franchised. Especially for a business as heavy as driverless taxis, Baidu, as a light-asset company, finds it difficult to do heavy-asset work."

The reporter of Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily noted thatRecently, Baidu's Apollo Intelligent Technology Company has expanded its new energy vehicle sales and leasing service business. Its business scope has been expanded to include auto parts research and development, auto parts retail, lubricant sales, new energy vehicle sales, small and micro-bus rental services, and new energy vehicle electrical accessories sales.

Apollo Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. was established in December 2020. Its legal representative is Li Zhenyu, former president of the Intelligent Driving Business Group. Its registered capital is RMB 300 million. Baidu senior vice presidents Liang Zhixiang and Cui Shanshan each hold 50% of the shares.

Regarding when Baidu will open up for franchise, Zhang Yi said,It needs to be carried out gradually according to the commercial test situation, operation and adjustment, as well as the maturity of technology.

"Especially a model like Luobo Kuaipao will inevitably create direct competition with local taxi companies. Against this background, it is normal for the industry to have some opposition voices. On the contrary, opening up for franchising is the most important thing to maintain its local operation," said Zhang Yi.
