Liu Huanhua, 23, is a rising star in weightlifting who grew up in the Paris cycle. He has been competing in cross-level events for the past three years. At the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships, he won two gold medals in the men's 102kg class, the clean and jerk and the total score. At the Weightlifting World Cup in April this year, Liu Huanhua won two more gold medals in the men's 102kg class, the clean and jerk and the total score, and broke these two world records.

In the men's 102kg competition at the Paris Olympics, Liu Huanhua performed very stably in the snatch, and all three attempts were successful. In the end, his score of 186kg ranked first in the field, and also refreshed his personal best in the snatch. In the subsequent clean and jerk, Liu Huanhua easily lifted 220kg at the start, which was also the highest score lifted by all the players in the field. In the second attempt, Liu Huanhua challenged 228kg. Although he lifted it, his left arm was slightly bent at the elbow, and the result was judged invalid. Even so, Liu Huanhua still won the gold medal with a total score of 406kg.

At the end of the competition, Liu Huanhua won the gold medal in the event, Akbar Zhulayev from Uzbekistan won the silver medal with a total score of 404 kg, and Tiskansu, who participated as an individual, won the bronze medal with a total score of 402 kg.

After the game, Liu Huanhua said at the press conference that he had trained very systematically and hard in the past three years to win this gold medal. This gold medal has brought new breakthroughs to Chinese weightlifting and added confidence to Chinese weightlifters in the men's major events. "At the same time, it proves to the world that Chinese weightlifting also has a place in the men's major events."
