In the tool manufacturing industry, the use of fans to remove dust during the polishing process has been a common practice for many years. However, since wind is used to absorb dust during the fan dust removal process, fine particles of dust will still spread in the air, causing certain pollution to the environment over time.
Today, this problem that has plagued the industry for many years has been solved in one fell swoop by an innovative "expert", he is the Weihai craftsman - Yu Xiaowen, director of the clamp workshop of Shandong Wendeng Weili Tools Group Co., Ltd.
During a process of using water to cool down the workpiece while grinding the grinding wheel, Yu Xiaowen suddenly had an idea: Can we turn water into mist, let the dust particles combine with water, and use gravity to achieve the dust removal effect? After repeated tests, the water mist dust removal effect is obvious, completely realizing the dust-free polishing process, reducing noise and high pollution. The automatic dust removal of the chain not only has a good effect, but also effectively reduces the labor intensity of employees. Taking the clamp workshop as an example, the process that originally required 16 people to complete was reduced to only 6 people, saving more than 1 million yuan in labor costs annually.
Since joining WEI Tools in 2004, Yu Xiaowen has been pursuing craftsmanship with a diligent heart, exploring product innovation and equipment transformation, obtaining four national patents and creating direct economic benefits of more than 20 million yuan for the company.
Yu Xiaowen has in-depth research on mechanical processing. Drawing on the principles of multi-station CNC machining centers, he designed a multi-station combination machine tool for water pump pliers by himself, and optimized the processing technology, integrating the original milling process, center hole drilling process, large hole drilling process, tapping process, and chamfering process. The work that originally required five people can now be completed by one person, and the processing quality and accuracy are ensured. This alone can save 1.2 million yuan each year.
Due to their shapes, water pump pliers often have problems such as lack of materials and cracks during forging. In addition, different shapes cause waste of materials, which weakens the market competitiveness of the products. Yu Xiaowen saw this and was anxious. During that time, he and his co-workers practiced on-site for several hours and finally figured out a reasonable set of cutting weights and forging processes, which not only saved 5% of materials, but also increased the one-time quality pass rate by 3 percentage points.
In order to radiate and drive more workers to engage in innovation, Yu Xiaowen set up an innovation studio in the workshop and led everyone to innovate together. He established a complete process for producing innovative results and customized a complete "roadmap" for technical innovation projects from preparation to completion for team members. Over the years, Yu Xiaowen has trained more than 30 apprentices, one of whom was awarded the title of Shandong Provincial Technical Expert, one was awarded the title of Weihai Chief Technician, and there are also 6 technicians and 12 senior workers, providing talent support for the high-quality development of the company.
