Amap won the first prize of Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award

Recently, the 2024 China Geographic Information Science and Technology Awards Bulletin was officially released, and the "Key Technologies and Applications for Intelligent Construction of Place Names and Addresses" project in which Amap participated won the first prize for scientific and technological progress.
The Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award was established with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology and selected by the China Geographic Information Industry Association. It is the highest scientific and technological honor in the national geographic information field. It aims to commend organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to geographic information science research, technological innovation and development, and the promotion and application of scientific and technological achievements.
The importance of the informatization of place names and addresses is increasing day by day, playing an important role from the national map to the local context, from supporting industrial innovation to facilitating people's lives. Information technology not only provides an efficient means for the management of place names and addresses, but also expands the space for the extensive and in-depth empowerment of economic and social development by place name and address information.
In the project of "Key Technologies and Applications for Intelligent Construction of Place Names and Addresses", Amap relied on its technical capabilities and data platform, and collaborated with the strengths of Beijing Institute of Surveying, Mapping and Design, Institute of Place Names of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Beijing Society of Surveying and Mapping, Wuhan University and other institutions to jointly create social and economic benefits for the development of the industry and partners.
Amap uses large model technology to provide users with associative address retrieval and generation services, greatly improving the efficiency of users' address retrieval; by vectorizing and rendering addresses, the range boundaries and terrain directions of addresses at different levels are expressed, which facilitates users to better perceive and explore the real world; in the field of industry empowerment, Amap's address structuring capabilities, standardization capabilities, GC/RGC (geography and reverse geography) capabilities, and aggregation capabilities are outstanding. Through open platforms, it continuously provides address-related service capabilities for industries such as electricity, finance, telecommunications, retail, logistics, and tobacco, greatly improving their operating efficiency while reducing industry operating costs.
In the digital age, mobile Internet has spawned a large number of new economic forms based on spatial location, and place names, addresses and data are widely used in economic and social development. It is important social public information and geographic information, and is the core resource and basic support for the construction of Digital China and smart cities.
