venerable master jian zhao founded the macau buddhist association in the mid-1980s and is the abbot of bodhi monastery. the bodhi elderly comprehensive service center was planned and constructed by venerable master jian zhao since the 1990s. after many twists and turns, it was finally completed in 2013. this is a great cause that upholds the buddha's spirit of "compassion, joy and giving". in 2023, the bodhi elderly comprehensive service center received the social service medal awarded by the macao special administrative region. the medal was awarded by mr. ho iat seng, chief executive of the macao special administrative region, and was received by master xinhui on behalf of the bodhi elderly comprehensive service center.

master xinhui said emotionally that the elder moved to hong kong at the age of 20, and spared no effort for the development of buddhism in hong kong, devoting a lot of effort and wisdom. in 1994, the elder returned to macau, founded the macau buddhist association, and presided over the bodhi zen temple. he united and led the four buddhist disciples in macau and was committed to promoting the comprehensive development of macau's buddhist cause. not only did he successfully strive for "buddha's birthday" to become a public holiday in macau, he also organized and welcomed the buddha's crown relics to macau for worship, which had a wide social impact. elder jianzhao was also one of the pioneers of cooperation and exchanges between the mainland and hong kong and macau buddhism. he strongly supported the mainland's buddhist education and talent training, and jointly initiated and strongly supported the world buddhist forum. his style and conduct were deeply admired and respected by the four buddhist disciples at home and abroad. the person has gone, but the dharma water flows on. the elder has passed away for six years, but his spirit of loving the country, the religion, macau and all living beings and his style of a great monk are like an inextinguishable wisdom lamp, which lasts forever in the world, spurring and inspiring us and other descendants to keep our original aspirations in mind, continue the buddha's wisdom, solemnize the country, and benefit sentient beings.
