ben quanmin, a first-level inspector of the beijing municipal bureau of landscape and greening, introduced that the "yihe mid-autumn festival·flowers blooming in beijing" cultural event is one of the important activities of the "flowers blooming in beijing·national flower appreciation season" and the beijing second family gardening carnival series of activities. it uses the art form of flower blooming performances to allow citizens to immerse themselves in the cultural charm of flower arrangement.
this flower show invited three chinese florists and three international florists to compete on the same stage. accompanied by dynamic fast-paced music, in about 4 minutes, the florists improvised based on the vases and flowers provided on site, presenting exquisite, grand and beautiful flower arrangement works. in the end, nearly 100 audience members voted for the most popular florist.

on the same day, a traditional chinese flower arrangement performance was staged at the zhichun pavilion in the summer palace. the flower arrangers used lilies, persimmons, small lilies, and tianmu magnolias to create traditional flower arrangement works such as "peaceful and prosperous times" to express their blessings to the motherland. the traditional basket flower work "chrysanthemum fragrance basket" uses chrysanthemums, lilies, strelitzias, and crabapple fruit branches as the main flowers, showing the gorgeous autumn colors of beijing in the golden autumn season with fragrant flowers and fruits.
gao dawei, party secretary and director of beijing municipal bureau of landscape and greening, said that the traditional chinese flower arrangement art has a long history, which originated in the pre-qin period and has a history of 3,000 years. it is an important carrier for people to express their feelings for flowers and trees, convey their feelings with flowers, express their aspirations with flowers, and decorate their lives. in 2008, with the approval of the state council, traditional chinese flower arrangement was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. this flower blooming competition will integrate traditional flower arrangement, fashion and modern aesthetics, popularize gardening knowledge to citizens, spread ecological culture, and gather strength for the construction of a garden city.
