on august 31, the taipei prosecutors applied to the court to detain and deny access to visitors to ko wen-je on charges of corruption and bribery.

in the early morning of september 2, the taipei district court believed that the evidence presented by the prosecution was insufficient to prove that ko wen-je was a serious criminal suspect and ruled to release him without bail.

on september 3, the taipei prosecutors appealed the taipei district court's decision to release the defendant without bail, requesting the "high court" to revoke the original decision.

on september 4, taiwan’s “high court” revoked the ruling on release without bail and sent the case back to the taipei district court for re-determination.
