according to foreign media reports, on august 31, the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) said that ford motor company will recall 90,736 vehicles in the united states because the vehicle's engine intake valve may rupture during driving.

nhtsa said the recall affects some 2021-2022 bronco, f-150, edge, explorer, lincoln nautilus and lincoln aviator models equipped with 2.7l or 3.0l nano ecoboost engines.

nhtsa also said that as part of the remedy, ford dealers will conduct engine cycle tests and replace the engines free of charge for the relevant owners if necessary.

in june, ford became one of the brands with the largest increase in the 2024 jd power u.s. initial quality study rankings, jumping 14 places to 9th place; ford bronco sport was named the best compact suv; the lincoln brand also achieved an increase in ranking by continuously improving quality.

john lawler, ford's vice chairman and chief financial officer, said at the time: "our internal evaluation also shows that the company's product quality is constantly improving. the failure rate per thousand vehicles within 90 days after sale has dropped significantly."

it is reported that the failure rate per thousand vehicles after new product release and 90 days after sale is one of the important indicators of warranty cost, and the improvement of product quality will also have a positive impact on the overall financial report.

lawler added: “we still have a lot of work to do to improve quality and reduce costs and complexity. but the team is confident that we are moving in the right direction.”

in addition, in august, foreign media reported that ford motor was recalling more than 90,000 explorer police cars in north america because of vehicle engine failures that could increase the risk of engine fires. the recall involves 2020 to 2022 ford explorer large police crossovers. the affected vehicles are equipped with the police interceptor multi-function kit and 3.3-liter hybrid and gasoline engines.
