the domestic family film "if i'm the one who loves you the most in the world" (hereinafter referred to as "if love"), if you only look at the character setting, it seems easy to be regarded as a speculative sensational film that sells misery: the heroine fu jiayi has no arms and was abandoned by her parents since childhood. her younger brother fu manduo is a hearing-impaired teenager who relies on hearing aids to live and his speech is not very clear. there is no blood relationship between the two of them, but because they grew up in the same orphanage, fu jiayi taught fu manduo to speak, and the two became siblings. later, fu jiayi picked up an abandoned baby and named him fu diudiu. the three ill-fated lives huddled together for warmth, and the love that transcended blood made them each other's family.

but after watching it, you will find that the film not only restrains the tragic rendering of the protagonist's disability as much as possible, but also chooses a level perspective to record how they overcome the impact of their physical condition, and more importantly, presents their vivid and full personalities. when filming fujiayi, the camera always focuses on how she solves difficulties: mobile phones need to be carried with her, and it is difficult to use them in pockets, so she inserts them in her shoes and scans the code to pay in one go; she hooks out the key from the shoulder bag that reaches her thighs, and opens the door with a pinch, insert, and twist of her toes; a long hook as high as her neck is nailed to the wall, and she can easily take off her work jacket by hooking it and moving it forward... in her ordinary daily life, her life wisdom is hidden everywhere.

from the first scene of fu jiayi's appearance, we can see the respect the camera has for her. she is a parking lot manager. once, she accidentally dropped the controller into the gap between the tables. the car owners urged her to open the door, while she was sitting on the ground trying to reach the controller with her feet. if the director wanted to exaggerate her pity, he could have let others come in to help her, and the camera would have looked down at her embarrassment from a high position with the eyes of others. but fortunately, the door in the movie was locked, and no one outside could get in. it was fu jiayi who solved the problem by herself, and stood up and opened the door gracefully - she is not a weak person who needs to be saved by others, but a strong protagonist who can break through the difficulties by herself.

unexpectedly, the protagonists also have their own entertainment activities: when fu manduo loses in mahjong, he will take fu jiayi to get back at him. his mahjong friends are used to it and have prepared a special chair for her. fu jiayi can also shuffle, grab and stack the cards fluently with her feet. even when she succeeds in making a comeback and the loser is furious and speaks ill of her, fu jiayi's thin body can still burst out with great courage and fight back. even if such a protagonist has physical defects, the audience will not only think that she is miserable and weak and needs sympathy, but will admire her bravery and tenacity.

the plot of "if love" is very simple, but the characterization can be said to be attentive. for example, the change in fu jiayi's mental journey after picking up fu diudiu is very real. at first, she didn't want to cause trouble. after rescuing the child with great effort, her first reaction was to call the police. but the eyes of the young girl reminded her of the past. raising fu diudiu, isn't it also watering her childhood self with maternal love? fu jiayi and fu manduo are both orphans. they are like rootless duckweed in this world, lacking family connections with others, until fu diudiu appeared-when fu manduo heard that he would be the uncle of a child, when fu jiayi heard diudiu babbling for the first time, an invisible but powerful emotion bound them tightly together. as fu jiayi said, although the physical defects cannot be changed, they still struggled to grow "new branches and buds."

the preciousness of human emotions is the most important point in the film. in addition to the kinship that transcends blood ties between the three protagonists, there is also the kindness and understanding of others towards them. fu diudiu was taken away because someone reported it. the uncle who lost to fu jiayi in mahjong had always been dissatisfied. when he heard that she had an extra child for no reason, he immediately called the police and said that she abducted the child. after knowing the truth, the neighbors also blamed him for his ill intentions, and he himself regretted blaming fu jiayi wrongly. faced with fu jiayi's determination to adopt, the director of the welfare home also gave her an opportunity to compete as equally as possible, because "putting her in a comparison between family and body is too cruel." the other family competing with fu jiayi was also very gentle. they were not angry when fu jiayi followed them, and they took the initiative to find her to express their true feelings, trying to alleviate fu jiayi's uneasiness and worries.

in the end, the solution to this difficult problem is still sincere emotion. a scene of changing a light bulb explains how fu jiayi went from persistence to giving up. in order to prove that she can take care of fu diudiu as well as others, fu jiayi tried to change the light bulb by herself. the hanging lamp is not easy to bear the force, and it is not easy to maintain balance if she sits too high. she fell and climbed up, and the hanging lamp flickered, just like her hope that she refused to give up. after several efforts, it was finally settled. tears slowly fell on fu jiayi's stubborn face. she succeeded, but also gave up. she knew how much suffering she had endured living alone for these years. she could give diudiu the best love, but a child's growth needs more guarantees besides love. love is reluctance, but also letting go.

the merit of if love is that it depicts the life details of the disabled protagonist realistically through offline visits and observations in advance, but the shortcomings are the script design and director's skills. especially after the story progresses to the third act, the development of the plot is obvious, the pictures and editing are still the simplest and straightforward, the lens language lacks design, and the memories are only mixed with filters, which can easily make people feel out of the play. how to immerse the audience in the images more skillfully is a difficulty that the director and screenwriter need to overcome.
