Cailian Press reported on August 28 (Editor Xia Junxiong) On the third anniversary of the Kabul airport bombing, former US President and Republican presidential candidate Trump blamed Democratic presidential candidate Harris for the incident.

In 2020, then-US President Trump and the Taliban reached an agreement for the US to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. Since Trump lost the 2020 election, it was the current US President Biden who implemented the withdrawal agreement.

According to the agreement reached between Trump and the Taliban, the US military should withdraw completely from Afghanistan by May 1, 2021. But after Biden took office, the withdrawal was postponed to May 1, 2021 and ended at the end of August that year.

On August 26, 2021, a suicide bombing occurred outside the airport in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, killing 13 US soldiers and at least 170 Afghan civilians.

Trump laid a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery, the largest military cemetery in the United States, near Washington on Monday to commemorate the 13 American soldiers killed in the bombing at Kabul airport.

After attending the memorial, Trump went to Detroit, Michigan, to give a speech to the National Guard Association, in which he slammed Harris and Biden, saying they were responsible for the bombing at Kabul airport.

"The disgrace in Afghanistan caused by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden has resulted in the collapse of America's credibility and respect around the world," Trump said.

He added that it was the right thing to do to withdraw U.S. troops, but that the Biden-Harris administration had failed to execute it.

Trump called on voters to vote for him and promised that if he was re-elected president, he would demand the resignation of all US officials responsible for the Kabul airport bombing.

Trump has repeatedly attacked Biden over the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, and as Harris succeeded Biden as the Democratic presidential candidate, Trump began to blame Harris, the vice president, for the incident.

Biden and Harris issued a statement on Monday on the third anniversary of the Kabul airport bombing. In response to Trump's accusations, Harris' campaign team hit back, saying that the Biden-Harris administration inherited a mess after the end of Trump's presidency.
