These products are the core products of new energy vehicles. In 2023, United Electronics' sales performance hit a new high, with sales revenue reaching RMB 37.088 billion, a year-on-year increase of nearly 20%. This year, United Electronics will move towards a sales volume of RMB 40 billion.

Timely transformation and upgrading to electrification and intelligence is the key to the continuous record-breaking performance of United Electronics in recent years. At the same time, the company's strict cost control and rapid product iteration are behind the outstanding performance.

Small size, high power

It took 10 years for UEC to achieve the first 1 million motor sales in 2022 from the first batch production of the motor project in 2013. In 2023, the sales volume of UEC motor products exceeded 2 million units, and now it has exceeded 3 million units, which took only one year.

The flat wire X-Pin motor is the latest generation of motor products developed by United Electronics. According to reports, United Electronics first incubated the X-Pin winding innovation concept in 2021, and then took the lead in realizing the mass production of X-Pin flat wire motors in June 2023, successfully filling the gap in domestic winding innovation technology. At present, the X-Pin motor has been designated for more than 10 projects, of which 2 projects have achieved mass production. It is expected that by the end of this year, the cumulative shipments will exceed 100,000 units.

"Our earliest motors were round wire, and later developed into flat wire I-Pin. I-Pin products are very good, with high efficiency and low cost. But we want to make the volume smaller and make the copper wire shorter and smaller while improving efficiency, so we came up with X-Pin." said relevant technicians.

Small size and high efficiency require even higher heat dissipation. United Electronics uses oil cooling technology in its motors. The clever oil circuit structure design makes the cooling effect about 5% higher than that of general products. It is revealed that this year, in order to maintain the leading position of oil cooling technology, United Electronics began to focus on the development of in-tank direct cooling technology with stronger cooling performance.

"As early as 2022, we started preliminary research on the in-tank oil cooling solution and planned to achieve mass production applications in the next few years," said a relevant person from United Electronics.

Power Module

More efficient and more reliable

The power module in the inverter is the "heart" of the electric drive system of new energy vehicles. Most competitors in the same industry choose to purchase power modules from outside, while United Electronics has mastered the design and packaging technology of power modules in its own hands, which can make the supply chain safer and more reliable, and is also its differentiated competitive advantage. "The delivery of 2 million inverters is inseparable from the successful development of United Electronics' self-packaged power modules." A relevant person from United Electronics said.

Today, power module technology is undergoing technological innovation. In order to solve users' mileage anxiety, 800V high-voltage fast charging and high-efficiency electric drive products have become the selling points of the latest models of major automakers, and silicon carbide power modules have thus ushered in a market explosion.

"At present, the production capacity of silicon carbide power modules of United Electronics is steadily increasing. It is currently used in INV4U inverters, serving many customers including new car-making forces," said a relevant person from United Electronics.

At the same time, United Electronics is developing a new generation of power modules, PM6, which will further improve the efficiency of the controller system. Combined with intelligent drive chips, the inverter efficiency of PM6 power modules can reach up to 99.5%.

It is reported that the PM6 power module adopts the industry-leading transfer molding process. In the implementation of technologies such as plastic sealing, silver sintering, and copper clips, United Electronics has achieved industry leadership, making the module's thermal resistance 30% better than the market average and greatly improving the module's service life.

In other words, the new generation of products is more reliable and durable while achieving higher efficiency. "PM6 is compatible with both 400V and 800V platforms, and is compatible with both silicon-based and silicon carbide chip specifications," said the engineer.

United Electronics said that the PM6 power module is expected to complete mass production and be launched on the market in 2025.

New bridge

Three-in-one, all-in-one

Whether it is the latest X-Pin motor or the inverter equipped with PM6 power module, they will all be integrated into the electric bridge. As the integrator of electric drive products, the performance and quality of the electric bridge directly affect the efficiency and stability of the entire system.

Integrating three major products, namely motor, electronic control and reducer, United Electronics successfully delivered a 100kW "three-in-one" electric bridge in 2020. The integrated electric bridge product has lower cost, smaller size and higher efficiency, and has been highly recognized by customers after it was launched on the market.

In order to meet the different requirements of customers, based on the 100kW "three-in-one" bridge, United Electronics has successively launched bridge products with different power ranges such as 150kW, 200kW, and 250kW. It also achieved mass production of 800V SiC bridge products in September last year, and in March this year, it achieved mass production of 400V SiC bridge products in Taicang factory, and the product matrix is ​​constantly improving.

Not only that, United Electronics has also developed innovative functions such as electronic parking, electronic clutch, and intelligent boost module based on the electric bridge.

It was revealed that in order to further improve the efficiency and power density of the electric bridge and reduce the size of the electric bridge products, United Electronics is developing the second-generation highly integrated EAU Gen2 "three-in-one" and "all-in-one" electric bridge products, which will be delivered in batches starting from 2025, and will continue to provide customers with efficient and reliable electric drive solutions.
