Building a house does not require steel and cement. It can be "assembled" in the virtual space of a computer just like playing with building blocks... With the advent of the digital age, construction has also quietly changed. As the World Skills Competition approaches, the reporter visited the Digital Construction Project World Skills Training Base at Guangdong Urban Technician College to learn more about what is new about this new World Skills Competition project.
Building a house in virtual space
At Guangdong Urban Technician College, the Digital Construction World Championships training base is slightly different from other bases. There are no CNC lathes or CNC milling machines, nor robot project stations, but only some computers. The contestants stared at the computer intently, tapping the mouse and keyboard. Soon, in the virtual space, buildings appeared before their eyes. Moreover, if you want to know which part of the building, you can see the construction details of that part. Various indicators and data are accurate and complete, and the construction behavior is just like personal practice.
The digital construction project is a new project of the WorldSkills Competition. Simply put, it is to "build" a building step by step in a visual digital space according to the requirements of the "task book". Not only that, it is also necessary to form a visual model under big data, which can not only predict the difficulties in construction, but also provide intelligent solutions, reshape the construction system, and make the building more vivid and intelligent.
Gu Juanni, leader of the expert group of the Chinese training team for the digital construction project, said that this training camp will increase the intensity of training and improve the training effect. At the same time, it will focus on cultivating the players' English, psychological quality and teamwork ability to ensure that the players perform at their best in the competition.
New events provide guidance for professional development
The digital construction project mainly tests the contestants' ability to create a three-dimensional digital model of a building through building information modeling technology, as well as their skill level in managing various performance parameters of the project. Simply put, it tests the contestants' ability to fully integrate construction skills and finely control digital buildings. These ability requirements point the way for future professional construction.
"Based on the building information model (BIM) technology, future buildings will be greener and smarter, and houses can be built in a modular manner in factories." In Gu Juanni's view, digital construction is not only a technology, but also a new construction concept. The ever-changing construction technology and various architectural forms are constantly refreshing the contestants' knowledge reserves.
At the same time, Gu Juanni also emphasized the importance of digital construction in practical applications. She said that digital construction scenarios can be realized without BIM, but the coordination and integration of digital construction based on BIM are better. Digital construction for the entire life cycle cannot be separated from BIM.
When talking about future development, Gu Juanni said that "green construction" and "digital construction" will be the main directions of industry transformation and upgrading for a long time in the future, and will also be the main focus of technological progress.
Digitalization will play a vital role in this transformation, and the generation, circulation and utilization of data will also be skills that industry practitioners need to face, solve and master.
WorldSkills Competition Becomes an Important Tool for Education Reform
"Skill competitions have become an important tool for schools to promote professional construction and educational reform." Yan Zigang, secretary of the Party Committee of Guangdong Urban Technician College, said that by participating in skill competitions, the high-quality development of skilled talent education can be promoted. Technical vocational colleges are also following the development pace of Guangdong's manufacturing industry, strengthening school-enterprise cooperation, and cultivating more compound and comprehensive high-end skilled talents for the development of Guangdong's advanced manufacturing industry and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
"The school currently has two national training bases for World Skills and seven provincial training bases for national skills competitions, creating a complete vocational skills competition system. By participating in the World Skills Competition, the college has trained a group of great craftsmen and high-skilled talents." Yan Zigang introduced that the college currently has three majors that are leading the reform of integrated engineering and technical skills talent training in the country, and 30 majors are reforming the talent integration model based on the World Skills standards and experience. In his opinion, by promoting education and training through competitions, the school has formed a new model of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, and students have broad employment prospects.
According to statistics, Guangdong's 148 technical schools send more than 170,000 graduates to all sectors of society every year, the total number of skilled talents reaches 19.79 million, and the employment rate of graduates reaches more than 98%.
