Campus consumer market enters trillion-yuan level

Data from the Ele.me platform shows that the number of orders from colleges and universities has exceeded 1 billion in the past year, and the growth rate of campus user orders has exceeded the average growth rate of all takeaway users. In terms of scene demand, the demand for takeaways by students is no longer limited to dining: from three meals to retail, the demand for the category and quality of supply by students is constantly increasing, and the proportion of consumption of self-pleasing life services such as beauty, entertainment, etc. is rapidly increasing.

Market research shows that the number of college students in China has exceeded 47 million, and has been on a continuous rise in the past five years. It can be said that this group of people has stable consumption, and the consumer market with increasing frequency, categories and amounts has officially entered the "trillion" level, with huge room for growth.

"Regarding such a large market with such high-frequency demand, Ele.me has full confidence and determination to work with all of our ecological partners to serve our student consumer groups well." Ele.me CEO Han Liu said at the meeting that Ele.me will continue to focus on the needs of university users, while continuing to uphold the principle of "openness", and work with ecological partners to deepen scenarios and provide good services and operations to universities.

The platform continues to increase investment in college scenarios

Data shows that Ele.me currently has more than 400 university cooperation ecological partners, more than 30 Fengniao express and city management partners, more than 200 channel partners, and more than 200 branded group meal cooperation companies.

In order to better support various campus ecological partners to accelerate the expansion of the campus market and optimize campus service operations, at this summit, Ele.me launched the "Digital Campus Ecological Alliance Plan", announcing that it will comprehensively upgrade the "Smart Campus" digital services and continue to increase platform investment in university scenarios.

"Colleges are the origin of Ele.me's development, and serving college users well is part of Ele.me's natural 'gene'," said Guo Peng, vice president of Ele.me and head of college business, at the meeting. Among Ele.me's annual active users, students account for more than one-tenth of the total, and 90% of student users nationwide use Ele.me at least once a year. Among the ultra-high-frequency takeout users, students account for the largest proportion.

The rapid development of the university business on the Ele.me platform is bringing more opportunities and profit-sharing space to ecological partners. According to the "Digital Campus Ecological Alliance Plan", Ele.me will invest at least 1 billion yuan in incentive support measures for logistics partners, business flow partners and campus comprehensive service partners within three years. At the same time, Ele.me will also aggregate resources from all ends within the alliance to continue to enrich the business types of partners and bring incremental development space for partners.

It is reported that in the campus cooperation scenario, Ele.me is more open to ecological partners to retain their own brands and service entrances, and supports cooperation in the form of three-party transportation capacity and three-party independent channels. This year, with the continued upgrading of the university service ecosystem, Ele.me will also focus on introducing small platforms, E-union service providers, campus operation service providers, etc., and work with all parties in the ecosystem to innovate cooperation models.

In addition, backed by the Alibaba ecosystem, Ele.me will continue to aggregate Alibaba's internal campus ecological resources to provide partners with overall solutions for smart technology campuses, including DingTalk (campus Ding project cooperation), Alibaba Cloud, Cainiao Station, Keruyun Smart Payment, Tmall Campus Supermarket, etc.

"Ele.me hopes to continue to share development dividends, market opportunities and profit-sharing opportunities with its ecological partners," Guo Peng said. Through the "Digital Campus Ecological Alliance Plan", he hopes to enable more partners who are on the same path to building a better campus life to have more comprehensive and in-depth development and better operating returns, so that all partners can feel more at ease and confident about their long-term efforts in the campus service business.
