The latest statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that in July, the monthly sales of new energy passenger cars accounted for 53.5%, surpassing traditional fuel passenger cars for the first time. New energy vehicle consumption continues to "add fuel to the fire" and the penetration rate continues to increase, but new energy vehicle insurance still cannot escape the vicious circle of "car owners complaining about high prices and insurance companies complaining about losses", which has become a stumbling block to the development of this "blue ocean" market to a certain extent.

If there are no accidents, the overall trend of auto insurance premiums will decrease, which seems to be the "default setting" of thousands of car owners' understanding of auto insurance. Some renewal cases of new energy vehicle insurance have broken this perception. Recently, some new energy vehicle owners reported that when they renewed their insurance in the second and third years without any accidents, the insurance company's quotation unexpectedly increased, ranging from hundreds to thousands of yuan.

The reporter found that the increase in vehicle damage insurance premiums, the addition of third-party liability insurance and seat insurance are the main reasons for the above price increases. Industry insiders said that if there was no accident in the previous year, the upward fluctuation of renewal premiums is related to many factors, such as traffic violations, the overall compensation ratio of the local market, the compensation ratio and accident rate of vehicle models, and the operating conditions of insurance companies. The "jianghu problem" of expensive new energy vehicle insurance and inexplicable price increases for renewals still needs to be solved by multiple parties. (China Securities Journal)
