On August 20, FedEx announced the innovative launch of FedEx Surround, a smart monitoring and intervention solution, to enhance the controllability and visibility of customers' shipments and improve logistics and supply chain management. The solution is currently in use in Singapore and Hong Kong, China, and will be promoted to other Asia-Pacific markets such as mainland China, Taiwan, China, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, and South Korea.
It is reported that the monitoring intervention tool can be seamlessly integrated with FedEx's existing freight network, further enhancing the company's strong performance of transportation and tracking combined solutions. Through three different levels of service: Select, Optimize and Advanced, the tool supports customers in multiple industries such as healthcare, aerospace and high-tech, and provides important information updates and intervention measures to ensure the integrity and timely delivery of sensitive shipments.
Based on this combination of monitoring and intervention tools, FedEx can further highlight its three major advantages: flexibility and controllability, higher value, and peace of mind. With the help of artificial intelligence and SenseAware ID, the Surround dashboard provides global visibility and predictive analysis for shipments in near real time. Improve operational capabilities through special handling instructions to achieve priority loading and handling, cold chain support, and intervention within and outside the freight network. Professional teams at transfer centers, aprons and operating sites provide 24-hour support to ensure proactive monitoring and intervention and provide customers with customized reports.

FedEx Surround, a monitoring and intervention solution now in use in the Asia Pacific region, relies on advanced sensing technologies such as SenseAware ID and near real-time data analysis capabilities to continuously monitor and proactively intervene in global shipment status. SenseAware ID uses lightweight and compact sensor devices to send precise package location data information to WiFi access points or existing gateway devices throughout the FedEx network every two seconds via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. During transportation, packages equipped with SenseAware ID sensor devices are tracked hundreds of times, while traditional scanning technology can only track packages dozens of times. In comparison, the former provides a large amount of real-time data on the location of shipments.
