Purdue Foods of the United States recently urgently recalled about 75 tons of frozen chicken nuggets and chicken tenders because consumers found metal wire in the products.
According to the Associated Press report on the 18th, Purdue announced on the 16th that it has been confirmed that very fine metal wires were accidentally mixed into chicken products during the production process. Although the metal wires have only been found in a "limited number" of products, it has decided to recall them on a large scale for safety reasons.
The company and the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service determined that approximately 75 tons of chicken products may be contaminated.
The recalled chicken products were sold in retail stores nationwide in the U.S. So far, there have been no reports of adverse reactions from consumers who have consumed the recalled chicken products.
According to the Associated Press, foreign material contamination is one of the main reasons for food recalls in the United States. In November last year, Tyson Foods also urgently recalled more than 13 tons of chicken nuggets due to the discovery of metal pieces in its food. In addition to metal, plastic fragments, gravel, insects, etc. have also appeared in various foods, leading to multiple emergency recalls.
