Driven by the Paris Olympics, fitness craze has swept across the country. Coinciding with the summer vacation, ice and snow sports have become a new choice for many people to exercise. On August 17, the first National Land Curling City Tour (Jiangsu Station) was launched at Nanjing Jinling Institute of Technology.
The competition lasted for two days. There were elementary school groups, middle school groups and adult groups. A total of 51 teams signed up for the competition. The contestants came from Beijing, Shanghai, Fujian, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Jilin and other places. In the exciting duel, the contestants won cheers from the audience with every accurate throw and clever layout. "We are a newly formed team. Although the score is a little regrettable, we are still very happy to be able to complete such a competition together." Ding Jiefan, a representative from Jiangsu, said.
Land curling is derived from real ice curling, and its equipment and execution rules are basically similar to those of real ice curling. Land curling is not restricted by venues, space and seasons. It is easy to learn, highly participatory, and has a wider audience, making it more suitable for popularization in the south. Li Lingshu, the international technical officer of curling and deputy chief referee of the National Land Curling City Tour, said, "We hope to improve everyone's physical and mental health through land curling. It is less harmful than many other sports and more interesting." Among the contestants in this competition, there are high-level professional athletes and ice and snow sports enthusiasts with no basic knowledge. The event is held in Nanjing, which will help further promote ice and snow sports in Jiangsu cities.
"The competition venue uses simulated ice panels, which reduces the cost of the event and is conducive to the popularization and promotion of curling among the masses." Wu Wei, director of the Jiangsu Ice and Snow Culture Research Center and deputy chief referee of the National Land Curling City Tour, introduced that currently three schools in Nanjing have been selected into the list of national youth campus ice and snow sports specialty schools announced by the Ministry of Education.
The first National Curling City Tour has four competition zones in Fujian, Jiangsu, Sichuan and Beijing. The first stop was successfully completed in Pingtan, Fujian in March this year. With the support of Nanjing Sports Bureau, this event is hosted by the China Ice and Snow Conference Organizing Committee and Nanjing Jiangning District Culture and Tourism Bureau, undertaken by Shizhuzhai Auction (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Digital Ice and Snow (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Jinling Institute of Technology.
