China News Service, Beijing, August 16 (Reporter Chen Hang) The reporter learned from the Beijing Meteorological Bureau on the 16th that due to the combined influence of the warm and humid air flow outside the subtropical high and the high-altitude trough, Beijing is expected to have significant rainfall from the afternoon of the 17th to the 18th, with the accumulated rainfall reaching heavy rain to torrential rain. The accumulated rainfall in some places in the west and north may reach the level of torrential rain.

Beijing Meteorological Observatory Chief Forecaster Zhai Liang said that the thunderstorm activity is not expected to be strong, the rainfall is unevenly distributed, the short-term rainfall intensity is large, the hourly rainfall intensity exceeds 30 mm, and the rainfall is accompanied by short-term gusts of 6 or 7 in some areas. The Beijing Meteorological Observatory issued a blue warning signal for heavy rain at 16:00 on the 16th.
The Beijing Water Authority and the Municipal Meteorological Bureau jointly issued a blue warning for flash floods at 16:30 on the 16th: Flash floods are expected to occur in Beijing's mountainous areas from 17:00 on the 17th to 8:00 on the 19th (blue risk). The public is requested to stay away from flash flood ditches, suspend outdoor activities involving mountains and water, and guard against flash floods.
Zhai Liang reminded that the local short-term rainfall intensity in Beijing is expected to be relatively large, and low-lying roads are prone to waterlogging, which will have an adverse impact on urban traffic and public travel on weekends. Please pay attention to lightning protection and rain avoidance during outdoor activities, drive around low-lying roads, drive cautiously in wading, and pay attention to traffic safety. Short-term wind force is expected to be relatively strong, so avoid staying under tall buildings, billboards, temporary structures or large trees. At the same time, the previous precipitation was relatively high, and coupled with this heavy rainfall, the risk of secondary disasters such as mountain torrents, landslides, and mud-rock flows in the western and northern mountainous areas of Beijing is relatively high. The public should avoid activities in mountainous areas, rivers and other disaster-prone areas. Due to heavy rainfall, some park scenic spots may be closed. The public with travel plans should pay attention to relevant information in advance.
