Following Two Point Hospital and Two Point School, Two Point Studios today officially announced its new game Two Point Museum. The studio's design director Ben Huskins recently accepted an interview with The Gamer and shared the reasons why they chose the museum as the theme.
There seems to be no real museum simulation game on the market yet, which is one of the reasons why the studio chose this track. Ben Huskins said that the team referred to a lot of ideas and considered several different scenarios, some of which were "quite in-depth", and finally chose the museum.
"The idea of a museum is great, and we can put our own unique stamp on it because there's nothing else out there. That's what we want to do. Make a Two Dot game that feels different," he said. Two Dot Museum will also continue the series' lighthearted style, adding the team's own style. Instead of long-dusted dried fossils and ordinary dinosaur bones, there will be novelties like unicorn dinosaur bones, floppy disk statues, or frozen cavemen.
As a British studio, players may inevitably associate the collections in the game with those in the British Museum that were looted from other countries.
When it comes to the provenance of the collection, Huskins said the team wanted to make sure to conceive of how each artifact was obtained in an appropriate way. "We don't want people to feel like you're plundering from somewhere else. We don't reference any real-world cultural artifacts, but we do have some things that can be called parody or satire, which only exist in the surreal realm of the Double Dot series."
