On the morning of August 8, my country's first fixed-wing search and rescue aircraft at sea, the King Air 350ER fixed-wing aircraft, was officially assigned to the East China Sea Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport in Fuzhou, Fujian, and began to perform maritime search and rescue duty and standby tasks. This marks that the flight search and rescue radius of my country's professional maritime rescue forces has been expanded from 200 nautical miles to 1,000 nautical miles.
According to statistics, the number of maritime traffic hazards beyond 150 nautical miles offshore has continued to increase in recent years, which has put forward higher requirements and urgent needs for strengthening the long-distance search and rescue capabilities of the national maritime professional rescue team.
In accordance with the decision and deployment of the Ministry of Transport, the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, based on the urgent needs of far-sea emergency support in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, combined with the current status of domestic and foreign maritime search and rescue force construction and development, conducted a comprehensive analysis, sorting, research and evaluation, and planned to deploy a long-range, large-load fixed-wing aircraft in the southeastern part of my country's East China Sea in accordance with the idea of "guaranteeing key points, taking into account the entire area, scientific deployment, and rapid results", taking into account the emergency search and rescue needs of the South China Sea and the North Sea, and ensuring that the flying search and rescue force has comprehensive coverage of the waters under my country's jurisdiction, so as to quickly make up for the shortcomings of far-sea search and rescue capabilities, complete the three-dimensional maritime rescue system, and effectively protect the lives and property of the people at sea.
The King Air 350ER equipped this time is a long-range, high-performance fixed-wing aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 7.5 tons, a maximum range of 2,570 nautical miles, a search and rescue radius of up to 1,000 nautical miles, and a maximum flight speed of 561 kilometers per hour. It can take off and land under visibility of not less than 800 meters and a runway length of more than 1,300 meters. Except for extreme weather conditions, it can perform 24-hour all-weather instrument, night flight and maritime search and rescue missions in freezing conditions, which will significantly enhance my country's comprehensive capabilities for deep-sea maritime emergency rescue.
At present, my country's transportation and salvage system has deployed 218 high-horsepower salvage ships, 24 rescue helicopters, 1 fixed-wing aircraft, and 19 emergency rescue teams in the three major sea areas of the North Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea to protect the lives and property of the people around the clock.
