9,100 cars can be loaded on 14 decks! At about 6 a.m. on the 8th, under the protection of the "Haixun 06916" boat and three high-powered tugboats, the 9,100-car ro-ro ship "Lino Aurora" built by China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. successfully left the dock and started its maiden voyage. This marks the successful delivery of the world's largest and most environmentally friendly car transport ship.
The "Lino Aurora" is the first dual-fuel and zero-carbon ready "Aurora Class" car ro-ro ship newly built by China Merchants Industry Haimen Base. It is designed by Deltamarin, with a total length of 199.9 meters, a molded length of 196.4 meters, a molded width of 37.6 meters, a molded depth of 14.53 meters, and a designed draft of 9.35 meters. The top deck of the ship is equipped with 1,500 square meters of solar panels, which can save 30% to 35% of the electricity produced by the motor. The ship is also equipped with a low-speed dual-fuel main engine and 3 dual-fuel generators, which can use LNG and conventional fuels. It also has the Norwegian DNV classification society "Ammonia Fuel Ready" and "Methanol Fuel Ready" classification symbols. It is currently the first ship in the field of car carriers that can use carbon-neutral fuels, and it has become the world's largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier. Next, China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. will build 11 Aurora Class car carriers of the same type.
To ensure the smooth delivery of the ship, the Nantong Maritime Department took the initiative to provide services, connected with the China Merchants Industry Haimen Base, strengthened the supervision of the entire life cycle of ships, and provided professional guidance in ship formalities, LNG fuel filling, emergency support, etc. At the same time, it gave full play to the role of "big traffic control" on the water with all elements, released navigation safety information through the "Smart Maritime" and "Smart Jianghai" platforms, reminded passing ships to strengthen their duty, and carried out all-round and three-dimensional traffic organization and on-site maintenance of the ship. Next, the Nantong Maritime Department will continue to optimize the port and shipping business environment, provide all-round services for the development of the ship and offshore industry, promote the green upgrade of shipbuilding, and contribute maritime power to achieve the strategic goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality".
