Xiaopeng Huitian, a subsidiary of Xiaopeng, announced new progress in financing.

On August 5, Xpeng Huitian announced that it had received $150 million in B1 round financing and launched B2 round financing at the same time. Xpeng Huitian said that this round of financing will ensure the smooth realization of Xpeng Huitian's flying car research and development, large-scale mass production and commercialization process.

In addition, Xiaopeng Huitian is about to build the world's first flying car factory that uses modern assembly lines for large-scale mass production in Guangzhou Development Zone, which will first be used to produce the flying body of the split flying car "Land Carrier". At the same time, the split flying car "Land Carrier" is scheduled to start pre-sale in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to official introduction, the first five generations of Xiaopeng Huitian's flying car products have successfully carried out nearly 20,000 flight tests, accumulating rich flight data and experience for the split flying car "land aircraft carrier". While promoting the commercialization of flying car products, Xiaopeng Huitian is also accelerating the layout of the national flying car application network. So far, it has successfully signed contracts with nearly 60 flight camps, including general aviation airports, scenic spots, cultural and tourism towns, urban suburbs and other types, providing users with safe and compliant flying space.

Xiaopeng Huitian's split flying car "Land Aircraft Carrier" is divided into two parts: the land body and the flying body, which can be automatically separated and combined. The land body can completely store the flying body inside the car and travel on the ground. The flying body is a manned pure electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, which adopts a distributed electric propulsion system to meet the single-point failure safety requirements, has manual/automatic driving modes, and has a 270° panoramic two-person cockpit; the land body is a 4-5-person intelligent driving cockpit, equipped with an extended-range electric drive power system, which can recharge the flying body multiple times and is called a land-based "mothership". The whole vehicle adopts a three-axle six-wheel design, which can achieve 6×6 all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering, and has good carrying capacity and off-road capabilities.

It is reported that Xiaopeng Huitian is an ecological enterprise of Xiaopeng Motors, founded by founder Zhao Deli in 2013, and jointly invested and controlled by He Xiaopeng and Xiaopeng Motors in 2020. At present, Xiaopeng Huitian's R&D center and flight test base are located in Guangzhou, and flying car forward-looking laboratories have been established in Shenzhen, Shanghai and other places.

It has become a common phenomenon for car companies to develop or invest in flying cars. At present, many companies around the world are actively developing and testing flying cars, including both traditional car manufacturers and emerging car companies. In addition to Xiaopeng, Geely, BYD, GAC, Toyota, Suzuki, etc. have all deployed flying cars, and are involved in the fields of eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft) and amphibious vehicles.
