Decision on taking countermeasures against U.S. Congressman McGovern

(Promulgated by Order No. 11 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China on July 31, 2024, and effective from July 31, 2024)

In recent years, Jim McGovern, a Democratic congressman from Massachusetts, has frequently made remarks and actions that interfere in China's internal affairs and undermine China's sovereignty, security and development interests. In accordance with Articles 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 15 of the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People's Republic of China, China has decided to take the following countermeasures against McGovern:

1. Freeze movable property, immovable property and other types of property within the territory of my country;

2. Prohibit organizations and individuals within the territory of my country from engaging in transactions, cooperation and other activities with the individual;

3. The person, his/her spouse, and children will not be issued a visa and will not be allowed to enter the country.

This decision shall come into force on July 31, 2024.
