How many hours do you sleep a day? The average person sleeps about 7-9 hours a day, so about 1/3 of a person's life is spent in bed.

Having a comfortable and healthy sleeping environment is of great benefit to sleep quality and physical health. Among the furniture arrangements in the bedroom, the bed and mattress in the bedroom have the greatest impact on sleep quality.

Below I’m going to expose several types of “scam beds” that I’ve slept on. Don’t buy one easily, no matter how cheap it is, as it can easily cause insomnia!

1. "Solid wood bed" made of artificial board

When buying a bed, don't choose artificial boards (such as density boards and particle boards). When artificial boards are exposed to moisture, the boards will become very fragile. When you are having a "deep conversation" in the middle of the night, the bed may collapse if you move a little! And those who use artificial boards as "solid wood beds" are basically inferior brands, and the boards used by these inferior brands may not meet environmental standards.

Tips: The bed should be made of real wood, even if it is cheap rubber wood or pine, its reliability is stronger than artificial board. For customized tatami, the vertical boards should also be dense to ensure the load-bearing capacity of the bed board.

2. The bed has too sparse ribs

Traditional wooden beds are made with wooden boards covering the entire bed frame, but with the popularity of mattresses and the merchants’ promotion of “breathable design”, bed frames now generally only have one layer of ribs. If the spacing between the ribs is too large, the mattress will easily damage and the ribs will easily break, making a creaking sound when sleeping on it.

Tips: The denser the frame, the better, and the spacing between frame plates should be less than 5 cm.

3. Cheap "leather bed"

Even the smartest buyers may have difficulty distinguishing between real leather and fake leather! Fake leather beds have a pungent odor and will start to peel off after a few years of use, eventually making the entire bed dirty and ugly.

Tips: It is best to buy branded leather beds, don’t buy cheap ones. Those below 2,000 are mostly fake leather.

4. Short-legged beds are difficult to maintain

The bed frame has short legs, and there is only a gap of less than 10 cm under the bed frame. It is difficult to reach in with a broom or mop to clean. It can only be cleaned during the annual year-end cleaning. By the time the bed is moved away at the end of the year, there is already several centimeters of dust under the bed, and it is even moldy! Do you think it is healthy to sleep on dust and mold every day?

Tips: When buying a bed, it is recommended to choose a bed frame with high legs to facilitate cleaning under the bed.

5. Storage box bed

Don't buy a bed with a storage box under the bed. The storage box underneath has poor air permeability and is prone to mold. In addition, this type of bed is not very practical for storage. To use it, you have to turn over the entire bed frame and mattress, and after installing the mosquito net, it is very troublesome to take things out.

Tips: If you want to utilize the space under the bed, you can use storage boxes or install drawers.

6. Beds with excessive formaldehyde

Whether it is a wooden bed or a fabric bed, the formaldehyde content may exceed the standard - the formaldehyde in a solid wooden bed is generally caused by the oil-based paint that is not environmentally friendly. The paint contains toxic substances such as toluene and formaldehyde; while the formaldehyde in fabric and leather beds is mainly caused by the environmentally friendly raw materials and the details being glued and installed.

Tips: When buying a solid wooden bed, ask the customer service whether to use oil-based paint or water-based paint; when buying leather or fabric, it is recommended to buy branded products, as the details are really hard to tell.

7. A soft, sagging mattress

Don't choose a mattress with poor support, such as a mattress with only one spring every 10 centimeters. The springs will make a creaking sound when you sleep on it, and your body will be propped up without support when you sleep, which can easily lead to back pain.

Tips: Buy a mattress with strong support and dense springs, preferably one with independent pocket springs.

We spend one-third of our lives sleeping in bed, and the importance of a bed is far more important than any other piece of furniture. If the bed is of poor quality and uncomfortable to sleep on, it will lead to a decline in sleep quality, which will indirectly affect daytime work and life. If we do not sleep well for a long time, it will also cause serious harm to our physical health. Therefore, when buying a bed and a mattress, you must not be greedy for cheapness, but must choose carefully!
