Oriental Daily reporter Wang Jiani reported on July 16: At 5:03 this morning, China Airlines Cargo, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines Logistics, carried out the inaugural CK201 "Shanghai-Budapest" all-cargo aircraft, carrying 89 tons of cargo, which took off smoothly from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and is expected to arrive at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport at 16:37 Beijing time on July 16.

Oriental Daily reporter learned that this is the first regular all-cargo route between China and Hungary after China's first direct passenger route to Hungary, "Shanghai-Budapest".

According to China Eastern Airlines Logistics, the newly launched "Shanghai-Budapest" all-cargo route is planned to operate three times a week, with a flight time of about 12 hours. The outbound flight takes off from Shanghai Pudong at 5:05 Beijing time and arrives in Budapest at 10:55 local time; the return flight takes off from Budapest at 13:40 local time and arrives in Shanghai Pudong at 6:50 Beijing time the next day. With the opening of this route, China Cargo Airlines, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines Logistics, has increased its scheduled all-cargo flight routes in Europe to four, namely London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Budapest, and will operate 48 flights (round trip) per week in the European region.

The reporter learned that the all-cargo route is operated by the newly introduced Boeing 777F all-cargo aircraft of China Eastern Airlines Logistics. 80% of the outbound flights are cross-border e-commerce goods, and the imports are mainly auto parts and fresh food. While operating the all-cargo route, China Eastern Airlines Logistics also provides aviation logistics services based on the belly cargo of China Eastern Airlines' passenger routes such as "Shanghai-Budapest", "Shanghai-Xi'an-Budapest" and "Ningbo-Budapest".

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. In recent years, China-Hungary relations have maintained a high level of development. Hungary is the first European country to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative with China. Its "opening to the east" strategy is deeply connected with the Belt and Road Initiative. At present, the economic and trade relations between Hungary and China are booming, and the pragmatic cooperation has achieved fruitful results. China has become Hungary's largest trading partner outside Europe. According to Chinese customs statistics, the bilateral trade volume between China and Hungary exceeded 102.2 billion yuan in 2023. In particular, with the vigorous development of the cross-border e-commerce industry, the demand for air logistics between the two countries has grown rapidly.

"The opening of the Pudong-Budapest all-cargo route means that China Eastern Airlines has taken a solid step in expanding the international air cargo market." Guo Lijun, chief economist of China Eastern Airlines Co., Ltd., chairman and party secretary of China Eastern Airlines Logistics Co., Ltd., said that the route can not only meet the growing transportation needs of high value-added products in China and Hungary, such as electronic products, biopharmaceuticals, and fresh agricultural products, but also provide more convenient and efficient transportation solutions for emerging industries such as cross-border e-commerce and express logistics. "We believe that the opening of the Pudong-Budapest all-cargo route will further promote economic, trade and cultural exchanges between China, Hungary and even China and Europe, and inject new vitality into the prosperity and development of the economies and societies of the two countries."
