pei xiuzhen is 67 years old this year, and she and 70-year-old guo maocai have been together for more than 40 years in the long river of time.
their fate began with the son-in-law of a colleague of pei xiuzhen's mother. this man was both a comrade and colleague of guo maocai, and he inadvertently set a red thread for the two. at that time, pei xiuzhen was no longer young and had an urgent desire for marriage. after many blind dates with no results, she finally met guo maocai. he was a retired soldier, and since they lived in the same neighborhood, she felt that he was the right person.
on the banks of daming lake and in jinniu park, they began their shy and innocent love. there is no romantic date, just a simple bench and talking to each other. guo maocai often went to pei xiuzhen's house to help with some housework, chatted with pei xiuzhen, and had meals with her family.
as time goes by, that simple emotion gradually warms up in the ordinary. the two got married nearly a year after they met.
after marriage, although their living habits were different, they never had any major disputes. although both of them are very busy at work, pei xiuzhen still takes good care of the elderly and children, and keeps the house in order, so that guo maocai has no worries at work. pei xiuzhen tolerated and accommodated guo maocai's mysophobia. in his spare time, he would also help clean the house and accompany his wife in housework.
the married life of more than 40 years has been ordinary and warm. a few years ago, guo maocai was hospitalized due to illness, and pei xiuzhen never left him. because he was unwilling to eat outside, pei xiuzhen went home every day to prepare three meals a day for him before sending them to the hospital. this often lasts for more than twenty days. this deep love and perseverance are moving.
