self-driving sightseeing vehicles in scenic spots, self-driving community delivery vehicles, self-driving airport hauling vehicles... how do they avoid obstacles, quickly and accurately automatically decelerate or brake, and reach designated locations safely and accurately?
recently, shanghai tongyu automotive technology co., ltd. from anting, jiading, appeared at the 2024 china international industrial expo, displaying technological innovation results and vividly explaining why vehicles can drive safely and autonomously.
tongyu automobile is one of tongji university’s first batch of key incubators for the “transformation of scientific and technological achievements”. it focuses on the r&d and industrialization of “new generation core technology of control-by-wire chassis” and is a leading first-tier supplier of automotive intelligent chassis systems in china. it has been established for 20 years. the intelligent manufacturing center with a production capacity of 1.76 million units supplies more than 200 models to more than 80 well-known companies.
at this industry expo, tongyu automobile exhibited products such as electronic hydraulic braking systems with integrated electronic parking, integrated wire-controlled electronic hydraulic braking systems, and caliper-integrated electronic parking braking systems. these exhibits are all key execution systems of smart driving vehicles and are also the latest technologies with high technical threshold and high reliability requirements. for example, tongyu's steering-by-wire system adopts a mechanical decoupling solution. the hand-feel feedback actuator and front-wheel steering actuator are fully redundant structures, and redundant communication interaction is used to ensure that the steering-by-wire system has fault-tolerant functions.
in layman's terms, the steering-by-wire system transfers the steering control of the vehicle from human power to the computer, eliminating the traditional mechanical linkage. the owner's instructions for operating the steering wheel are completely transmitted to the electronic control unit or electronic control system through electronic signals, and then to the steering. the machine completes the operation. the traditional steering system may require one and a half or two turns of the steering wheel to complete the u-turn, but with the use of steer-by-wire, the maximum steering angle of the steering wheel is controlled within 180 degrees, getting rid of various limitations of the traditional steering system.
