according to fast technology on september 26, total linhas aereas, a small brazilian cargo and charter airline, reportedly plans to purchase c919 passenger aircraft from comac.
total and comac have been in talks for several months, the report said, with paulo almada, the company's controlling partner, saying:he will visit comac in october to discuss a potential order for up to four c919 aircraft.
he also noted that his company was forced to seek other options as traditional western manufacturers such as airbus and boeing were unable to meet demand for new aircraft due to supply chain constraints.
the large aircraft industry is dealing with supply shortages, but comac has revealed they can deliver the aircraft by march next year.
almada said the talks between total and comac included china development bank providing financing for 80 percent of the total value over a period of 10 to 12 years.it also revealed that the list price of each c919 is approximately us$90 million (approximately rmb 631 million).
it is reported that total's current fleet consists of atr42-500 turboprop aircraft and boeing 737-400 freighters; the c919 can carry up to 192 passengers and belongs to the same category as the boeing 737 and airbus a320.
if the two parties sign an order contract, total will also promote china's c919 aircraft to obtain certification in brazil.
