beijing plans to build 2,000 elderly care beds this year

on september 25, the publicity department of the municipal party committee and the information office of the municipal government held a series of press conferences on the theme of "celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of new china" to introduce the achievements of the development of beijing's aging industry. guo hanqiao, member of the party leadership group, deputy director and spokesperson of the beijing municipal civil affairs bureau, introduced thatthis year, the city will plan to build 100 street (township) regional elderly care service centers. currently, 60 of them have completed acceptance, and the goal of building regional elderly care service centers has been more than half completed.
guo hanqiao introduced that beijing closely follows the service demand and innovates and improves the elderly care service system with the characteristics of the capital. in recent years, beijing has innovated the home and community elderly care service model. according to the overall idea of "cultivating one type of subject, building two models, and achieving full coverage", it has carried out pilot projects relying on market entities and explored and formed an elderly care service system based on "one list, one platform, and one network".in order to solve the care problems for the elderly and the severely disabled and demented elderly groups, we have organized market players to launch 24-hour universal home care service packages with different contents and prices. so far, we have signed contracts for nearly 1,800 long-term home care services.
in recent years,beijing is vigorously developing home care beds for the elderly, with plans to build 2,000 beds this year.at present, various districts have built nearly 6,000 elderly care beds, and a total of 22,000 beds have been built and put into operation.
in terms of elderly care and meal assistance, beijing has made great efforts to improve the meal assistance service system.we have promoted the transformation and upgrading of 51 elderly care stations with an area of more than 400 square meters in the six urban districts, opened community restaurants, and encouraged social catering companies to participate in elderly care meal assistance. so far, a total of 2,256 elderly care meal assistance points have been built and operated, covering three-quarters of the city's urban and rural communities.a total of 27.88 million people have received meal assistance services. in addition, beijing has completed home environment adaptation for 12,000 elderly people.
this year, beijing will also plan to build 100 street (township) regional elderly care service centers.it is understood that the regional elderly care service center has the functions of matching the supply and demand of elderly care services, dispatching supervision, community restaurants, senior citizen schools, health care and entertainment, centralized elderly care, etc., and can provide elderly people with convenient and inclusive elderly care services. as of september 20, 60 centers have been completed and the construction of the remaining 40 centers is progressing in an orderly manner.
