qatari emir (head of state) tamim said at the 79th united nations general assembly held in new york on september 24 local time:qatar will continue to advance its mediation efforts aimed at facilitating a ceasefire in the gaza strip.

tamim said that despite the challenges and obstacles, qatar will continue to mediate between the two sides of the palestinian-israeli conflict and resolve disputes through peaceful means until a permanent ceasefire is achieved in the gaza strip, ensuring the release of detained persons and a just resolution of the palestinian issue on the basis of the arab peace initiative and relevant security council resolutions, so that the palestinian people can obtain their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent palestinian state with east jerusalem as its capital on the basis of the 1967 borders.
